Lake City, MI (6-27-17) -- Merritt Speedway officials are ready for a huge weekend of racing, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday this coming weekend. Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, recognizing the size of the weekends slate of events, signed on to be the title sponsor of all racing over the independence weekend of racing at Michigan’s Premier Dirt Track.

Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort Independence Weekend will serve up high paying races and undoubtedly a mix of the best on-track racing action fans will see anywhere in Michigan this summer. Fans and teams alike are invited to spend the weekend right on the property, with camping available for just $25 per site, spanning June 30 through July 4.

On Saturday, July 1, the weekend will get kicked off with the Keyser Manufacturing UMP Late Models racing for $1,500-to-win, in what has become a tradition on the Saturday of Independence Day weekend. Some of the top DIRTcar UMP Late Models will be competing with the American Ethanol Late Model Tour on the same day, creating a unique opportunity for non-tour chasers to race at Merritt for a nice payout on Saturday. Also racing for $1,500-to-win is the Cadillac Tire Center UMP Modifieds, in what will also be the start of the Allstar Performance, Carbon Green BioEnergy $15,000 weekend sweep bonus challenge. If one driver is able to win all three nights of UMP Modified action over the weekend, they’ll pick up an additional $15,000 bonus, in what would be a massive $28,000 payday in weekend winnings! The Lightning Sprints will compete for $800-to-win, joined by the B Modifieds and Four Cylinders also racing on Saturday.

Sunday is fan appreciation night at Merritt Speedway, with general admission tickets just five dollars, creating easily the best dollar for dollar entertainment value in Michigan over the fourth of July weekend. Not only will fans of all ages gain admission for just $5, but they’ll get to see the American Ethanol Late Model Tour in their $4,000-to-win race, and the biggest fireworks display in Merritt Speedways 49-year history! Also in action will be the UMP Modifieds racing for $1,500-to-win and $225-to-start, with the Pro Stocks and Lightning Sprints racing as well. Plus, the Factory Stocks and Four Cylinders will both have the opportunity to race for $1,000-to-win on Sunday, filling out what should be an incredible night.

Monday will close out the fourth of July weekend at Merritt Speedway, featuring a gigantic $10,000-to-win for the American Ethanol Modified Tour in the Allstar Performance Classic. The UMP Late Models, Pro Stocks, Factory Stocks, Four Cylinders and Mini Wedge cars will all be in action, as well as the B Modifieds who will race for $1,000-to-win. Mondays UMP Modified feature will become the highest paying race for this style of car in the state of Michigan, at least in recent memory, and is sure to bring the heavy hitters to Merritt Speedway all weekend. The $15,000 weekend sweep challenge will conclude on this night as well, provided at least 24 cars start all three UMP Modified a features.

As previously mentioned, dry camping on the speedway grounds is welcome for the duration of weekend, or spanning from June 30 to July 4 and is just $25. Three-day weekend grandstand admission tickets can be purchased at $27 for adults, and $12 for kids 6-12. Merritt Speedway has introduced all new aluminum grandstand seating, track LED lighting, paved concourse areas and handicap seating for 2017 and beyond.
