Dennis Erb, Jr. Slays Summer Nationals Foes for Two Wins; Huge Holiday Week Ahead!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing returned to their roots from June 22-26 by migrating through the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Tennessee on the grueling UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. The result for three-time “Hell Tour” Champion Dennis Erb, Jr. in those five races – two trips to victory lane, two runner-up performances, and a strong fifth place effort! Dennis is now sixth on the all-time Summer Nationals wins list with twenty-two following triumphs at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee in recent days!

The Carpentersville, Illinois star rolled off seventh on the feature grid last Friday at Granite City and methodically drove to the front of the stellar field before sailing past race-long leader Tony Jackson, Jr. on the final circuit to capture the $10,000 payday in exciting fashion. Dennis beat Jackson, Jr. Chris Simpson, Shannon Babb, and Bobby Pierce to the checkered flag at the St. Louis-area venue. On Monday evening at Clarksville, Dennis posted the fastest lap in his group during qualifying, won his heat race, and later led all forty laps in the main event to score the $5,000 winner’s share over Billy Moyer, Bobby Pierce, Ryan Unzicker, and Shannon Babb.

The #28 team also had a couple of near-misses with runner-up showings at both Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. Dennis set a New Track Record in qualifying, won his heat race, and led the first nineteen laps of the A-Main last Thursday at Spoon River before finishing second behind winner Bobby Pierce. At FALS on Saturday night, Dennis advanced from his sixth starting position in the 50-lapper up to second to trail only victor Shannon Babb.

In his “worst” run during the consistent week on the Summer Nationals grind, Dennis rallied past six competitors during the 40-lap feature on Sunday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana to bag a steady fifth place finish behind only race winner Tyler Erb, Shannon Babb, Bobby Pierce, and Billy Moyer. “We have had everything clicking pretty good here lately and it feels great to unload and be in the mix each night,” exclaimed Erb, Jr. this week via telephone. “Our Black Diamond car has been very consistent and we’ve had the setups pretty much right on the money lately. It was a good week for us with a couple of wins and a couple of seconds, so we will just keep working hard at it and hopefully keep it rolling into the World of Outlaws and Lucas events on our schedule this week!”

Another busy stretch of high-profile shows await Dennis Erb Racing from June 28-July 3 in the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Before he returns to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour, Dennis will vie for the pair of $10,000 top prizes on the line with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series tonight at Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois and on Friday at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana. From there, the LOLMDS will take the #28 team to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday ($12,000 to win), to Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio on Sunday ($10,000 to win), and to Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio on Monday ($12,000 to win). Dennis comes into the hectic Independence Day holiday weekend eighth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
