Lee Johnson Racing Collection 1980-1984

I just finished scanning over 1000 negatives and slides of Late Models I took from 1980 to 1984. The vast majority were taken at Iowa tracks, but I did also wander to Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri and Florida.

1980-1984 was arguably the craziest time ever in Late Model racing. Cars went from recognizable Camaros, Mustangs and Novas to the infamous wild Wedges. Cars shed hundreds of pounds and a competitive car in June was obsolete in August.

I have set up the galleries by drivers name and year. You will find the Sanger, Hansen, Purvis, and Helfrich , but also many of the local drivers that rarely, if ever saw a feature win.

Enjoy the memories of a simpler time in life , but so wild and crazy in racing.
