Ponderosa Speedway Off July 7; Summer Shootout Set for Friday July 14

Junction City, KY- July 2, 2017- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenius will have the 3/8-mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” closed on Friday July 7 for the 2017 Lincoln County Fair, but will return to action on Friday July 14 with the Summer Shootout event, featuring the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series racing for $2,000 to win, plus all other divisions in action.

The Summer Shootout racing program at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday June 14 will feature the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series competitors in full program that will be capped off with the 30 lap, $2,000 to win/$200 to start Summer Shootout main event. Also in competition at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday July 14 will be Super Late Models racing for $1,200 to win in a 25 lap feature event, while the Pro (Crate) Late Models will compete for $800 to win in a 20 lap feature contest. Concluding the racing card of action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday July 14 will be the track’s KDRA Super Stocks racing for $600 to win in a 15 lap feature event, Stock Four Cylinders racing for $300 to win in a 12 lap feature contest, and the Mini-Cup/Cyclone division racing for $100 to win in a 10 lap feature event. All divisions will utilize the practice/time trial combo format, except for the Summit Racing Equipment AMS Modifieds, to determine heat race starting positions. Transponder timing/scoring is used at Ponderosa Speedway and the rental fee for a transponder is $10. RACEceivers are also mandatory and are required to be in use each a competitor is on the track. The entry fee for the Open Wheel Modified division for this event is $50 and the Open Wheel Modified portion will be sanctioned by the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series and all UMP rules (body and tires) will apply for this event.

Activities for the Friday July 14 racing program at Ponderosa Speedway will see the pit area and general admission area gates open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by practice and time trials, and green flag racing. Ticket prices and purse information for the racing event on Friday July 14 will be announced in an upcoming press release.
