    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOMERSET, KY (September 25, 2017)—The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Super Late Models and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will sanction the Harold Hardgrove Memorial on Saturday Night September 30th at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky.

On Saturday Night September 30th the Iron-Man Late Models will race for $3,522-to-win and $250-to-start while the Iron-Man Modifieds will race for $1,022-to-win and $100-to-start. The KDRA Super Stocks will compete for $1,022-to-win and the Four Cylinders racing for $1,022-to-win.

Several bonuses for the Super Late Models and Modified have been posted for that night. Turner Realty Group of Somerset, Ky. will pay the Super Late Model and Modified fastest qualifier $122 each. David Tilley will pay the Super Late Model hard charger $100. The Modifieds will have some purse increase thanks to Custom Suspension.

Also of note, any Super Late Model driver that can sweep the weekend and win the un-sanctioned $2,000-to-win event at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday Night September 29th and also capture the $3,522 Harold Hardgrove Memorial on Saturday Night September 30th at Lake Cumberland Speedway will receive a $500 bonus courtesy of CT Promotions.

On Saturday September 30, the pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, the grandstand gates will open at 4:00 pm and the drivers meeting will be at 6:00 pm with hot laps beginning at 6:30 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00 per person while adult pit passes are $35.00 per person.

The race pays tribute to long-time owner Harold Hardgrove who bought the track in late 1997 and opened the track in 1998 and ran until his death in 2009. His son Brandon and daughter Casey operate the track which sits five minutes south of Somerset, Ky. The elder Hardgrove raced at the speedway before he made the purchase of the 3/8th’s mile oval. Hardgrove brought back the popular Lake Cumberland Classic event in 1998 and Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky. captured the payday. Some of Hardgrove’s biggest events consisted of the $10,000-to-win Coca-Cola 100 in November 2002 (Johnny Wheeler-winner) and a Montgomery-Gentry invitational race in 2002. Hardgrove also hosted Northern Allstars (1999-2003) and Battle of the Bluegrass races (2002-2007) at the track.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series will sanction the Late Model portion of the program. The entry fee will be $50. The tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56 tires allowed anywhere on all four wheels. All non-qualifier Late Model drivers receive $50 tow money.
