    Default Elmer Ruby Passes away # 711

    Old German 711 Swallow the leader Port Royal Speedway Track Champion 1971 & 72 passes away at 78 years old. R.I.P.


    Elmer Paul Ruby, 78, of Artemas, PA; passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona. He was born on September 9, 1939 in Artemas, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Percy A. and Bellva R. (Imes) Ruby. He is survived by a daughter, Dana Phillips, Bedford, PA; siblings, LeRoy Ruby married to Pleasant, Artemas, PA and Betty Waugh, Talmo, GA; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and special caregiver and dear friend Linda J. Ford-Zaccaria.

    He was preceded in death by three children: Steve Ruby, David Ruby and Dorothy Kirchner and a brother Cleveland Ruby.

    Throughout the years Mr. Ruby worked on the gas wells, Old German Beer and later working for Henkels and McCoy Inc. until his retirement.

    Elmer loved racing, he was a sprint car driver and a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed watching wrestling and had a love for fishing.

    Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fairview Christian Church with Pastor Milton Morris officiating.

    Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

    If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Ruby to Bedford County Humane Society, 1108 Lutzville Rd, Everett, PA 15537.
