Depends on the sanction/ class. Many late models don't have anything against it. The gold kryptonite car was basically the same thing as chrome just gold chrome. I know imca has rules against it.
Another cool one I've seen is clear lexan body panels. Didn't last long due to them getting brittle and/or shattering upon impact of other cars

I believe the gold or chrome (silver) aluminum is not nearly as pliable as standard color stuff, only from my experience in building an interior out of the silver. But I do know it is quite a bit more expensive (about twice as much, I believe).

You could maybe do a wrap over standard aluminum, if they have something like that. I think McKay Wenger used that one year.

Yea imca did for a while, and was also where I saw the lexan doors which was on a show car that they then raced, now imca has no reflective doors or quarter panels in their rules.

Most guys get the chrome sheets that are thicker when they build decking and stuff, but you can special order thinner sheets of chrome thats a little better to work with. A buddy did his mod lite in it this year. Looks black on the track at night.

The sign shop here charges $650 for a lm wrap... $200 more for chrome.

You can check out aluminum body panels at www.wrisco.com

Mud streaks and minor damage make them look terrible quick. Seen a few chrome mods and after just a couple shows they looked rough.

Years ago, DW had an all-chrome NASCAR buggy. His cars were always slow.

Yep 3 cup championships and 84 wins. Real slow genius!
