Default Jackie Boggs and Don Adams Feast on Iron-Man Leftover Victories at 411 Motor Speedway

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jackie Boggs and Don Adams Feast on Iron-Man Leftover Victories at 411 Motor Speedway

    By Michael Despain

SEYMOUR, TN – November 25, 2017 – The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would present their final events of the 2017 season on Saturday at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. as the 2nd Annual Leftover event was contested and Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky. would lead all fifty laps on his way to the $5,000 Leftover victory with the Schaeffer Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series. In Brucebilt Performance Modified Series action, veteran racer Don Adams of London, Ky. would take the lead on lap eleven and drive away to a $1,200 payday.

The victory by Boggs was his third of the season with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series and would come behind the wheel of his familiar Central Star Drilling/Quest Energy/McCoy Brothers Logging/Reno and Sons Lawn Care sponsored #4B Swartz Race Car. The win for Adams in the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would come aboard the Lightning Chassis/Rayburn Race Cars sponsored #90 Lightning Chassis machine.

Jackie Boggs would take the lead at the start of the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series Leftover main event, with Casey Roberts, Shanon Buckingham, Steve Smith, and Devin Moran in pursuit. The first of five caution flags waved on lap two when Bobby Giffin would loop his mount in turn one. Back underway, Boggs and Roberts would quickly scoot away from the field, with Boggs maintaining a steady lead over Roberts as Boggs would start working slower traffic on lap ten. This would allow Roberts to close the gap just a bit, but caution would wave on lap thirteen when third-place running Buckingham would spin in turn one after hooking the inside berm of the track with the left-front of his machine and would pull pitside for the remainder of the contest. The restart would see Boggs, Roberts, and Smith stay first through third, while Moran would now be fourth, with 12th place starting Johnny Cloer now riding in the fifth position. Only a handful of green flags would be contested until Dakotah Knuckles and Levi Ashby would tangle in turn three to draw the third caution of the event. This restart would see the top five remain the same, with Cloer now pressuring Moran for the fourth position.

As the event neared the halfway mark, Skylar Marlar’s mount would slow at the topside of turn two to draw the caution flag. The restart would again see the top five remain the same, with Cloer renewing his battle with Moran for the fourth spot. Boggs and Roberts would again pull away from the field, with Boggs maintaining a comfortable lead and was about to catch heavy traffic when the final caution of event flew on lap thirty-four when Levi Ashby’s entry slowed in turn two. The restart would see Boggs and Roberts get away from third place Smith, while Cloer would grab the fourth spot away Moran. The front pair of Boggs and Roberts would catch slower traffic once again on lap forty-three and Roberts would close in a bit on Boggs with five laps remaining. Cloer would chase Smith down and take the third position on lap forty-eight, but Boggs would not be denied and see the checkered flag first, with Roberts settling for second, while Cloer would come home third. Moran would finish fourth, with 15th starting Stephen Breeding getting around Smith on the final lap to complete the top five. Smith would head up the remainder of the top ten finishers, followed by Jaden Frame, Caleb Ashby, 20th starting Robby Moses, and Jason Cardwell.

Chase King would lead the first ten circuits of the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series main event before veteran racer and chassis builder Don Adams would make a move for the lead exiting turn two and would have the race lead coming on turn four to complete lap eleven. Only a caution for a turn-two spin by King on lap fifteen and a lap twenty-three caution for a spin by Brandon Coleman would slow the efforts of Adams and Adams would get a nice restart on the final restart of the event and drive to the victory. Tommy Bailey would claim runner-up honors, while Jody Puckett would complete the podium finishers with a third-place effort. Keith Smith would start 11th and drive to a fourth-place performance, while 12th starting Ervin Vance would complete the top five finishers. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Nathan Loney, Wayne James, Christian Thomas, Austin Holcombe, and Ernie Gingrich.

After the post-race activities, thirteen-year-old Carder Miller of Salem, Va. was crowned the 2017 Late Model series champion. Levi Ashby of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn. was second in the series points, Joey Standridge of Tellico Plains, Tenn. was third in the series points and Jeff Neubert of Rockford, Tenn. finished fourth in the series points.

Also, Shon Flanary of Surgoinsville, Tenn. was announced as the 2017 Modified Series champion. Blake Brown of Corbin, Ky. finished second in the series points and Zach Powers of Taylorsville, Ky. finished third in the final totals.
