Default Ray Cook praises new Southern Nationals rules after test session

    http://insidedirtracing.com/ray-cook...-test-session/

Ray Cook believes deck heights on Late Models have reached unsafe levels so he has implemented new rules. He tested those rules on Thursday.

So why didn’t he already have it on his car if it was as fast or faster????

Well there you have it. He just proved that less droop is faster so there is no need to make it a rule. Every dirt driver in the country will be out buy a short piece of chain this morning so they can go faster. There will be a chain shortage by noon.

I think someone's chain was getting jerked on that whole test session.

It may very well be the truth, on his car.

Then why make a rule? Maybe lower will be even faster.... so what’s next Ray a min height? Because the cars will be going to fast and could crash. What Ray should of done is not told anyone how much faster it was and he could of showed up at all the WOO, UMP and Lucas races in Florida and won everything. Now Every Late Model Team in the US today is working hard to lower the nose and Deck because it was .03 faster. While everyone is believing everything they read....I have some beautiful ocean front property for sale here in Illinois.Last edited by onlyfacts; 12-22-2017 at 12:38 PM.

That’s my thinking also. It supposedly worked on his car, because he wanted it to work on his car.

You also assume everyone has similar geometry and cant think outside the box.

I mean, he created the rule. Did anybody expect him to sh*t on it?

If he was a half second slower, who cares?

If he was half a second slower, I'd bet this article doesn't exist.

Maybe. But just as the body rule arguments don't fit this convo, why should speed matter? They will all have to follow the same rules.

On some cars, with some setups, on some tracks they will be slower. Some they will be faster. After learning with it, the results will change again.

Speed must be a concern because Ray tweeted it so people would think it doesn’t effect speed.. Ray himself tweeted that.

Well, he missed the forest for the trees on his own deal. All he did was make people call him a self serving liar. I remember when Mastersbilt said to run like 12.75" drop measurement and I ran 13.5 because I liked it better. Did I lap the field? No.

Ray Cook is a good guy at least he is trying to do something so why is everybody blasting him.I agree the cars are to high on left rear.I think it's a pretty ballsy move myself and I applaud him for it. I don't think he had to get approval from any keyboard jockeys or wanna be drivers to implement this rule.

The rule isn't even that bad, I just have an issue with the fairness. Like his tire testing procedure, this rule is not fair to all racers

RW57 , you are right , ray is a good ole country boy like me , parked beside him at green valley several years ago and he will help you any way he can , but , I personally cant see this rule getting off the ground , there is to much variance in set up and chassis these days to have a consistent way to tech this...JMO....

Someone has invented a chrome painted rubber chain. Stay tuned for more details.

I am confused as to why everyone thinks it will be hard to tech with wheel off ground it measures right or wrong .I do not see how chassis brand or 4 bar lengths or rear geometry have any thing to do with it. If I am missing something please enlighten me.
