What's the best hotel bang for the buck near Screven? Or best that still have rooms now? We just decided to make the trip! Other things we should do or see when not racing? I know we're really going for racing, but wondering about other things! I know some of you have great tips, but please no smart (butt) answers! Thanks in advance!

I always stay in Statesboro plenty of good motels. Stayed at the super 8 only 49.00 a night. What ever you do don't make a reservation in the town of screven that's about 2 and half hour from the track. the track is in the county of screven. The town of screven is in a different county

Stayed at motel 8 last year. Good enough for race weekend. Make the trip to Savanna During the day, but there are lots of racing at the different tracks on the grounds to keep a race fan happy. Thought about eating at the track, but what I packed and cooked was better. Not putting the track food down, just like to eat well and bring my money home. Hope you have a great time. Loved the racing last year!

For me there is no better value and no better food than you will find at Screven. Real meat and 3 vegetable meals with things like chicken and rice, pot roast, spaghetti with meatballs, catfish stew and so much more.

Friday for lunch hit Brown's Country Cooking about 3 miles from the track towards the town of Sylvania. Screven is indeed the county. The closest municipality is Sylvania. I too would recommend looking Statesboro now. Many places will be sold out.

You should definitely make the run to Savannah during the day. Lots of history and just a beautiful area in general. Some good restaurants as well. And you aren't very far from Tybee Island either.

Thanks Kelly! I'll have to find you sometime that weekend. I saw the list of hotels on the website, but that's about it! Do you have a schedule/ order of events,etc? Some of us don't have facebook,etc to ask or search! Also, Is the little track running?

If you stay in Savannah, you gotta eat at Ms. Wilkes. Its only open for lunch during the weekdays. You will be served 23 of the finest Southern meats and vegetables you have ever ate. It is served family style and is all you can eat. They have been in the same location for nearly 50 years!

No both the dragstrip and Gamec0ck are under construction currently. Dragstrip is nearing completion.

On my trips, I always stayed in Statesboro and was well satisfied.

Screven is one of the few tracks that I eat just as much of their cooking as I do mine while there ....they do a nice job with the concessions and the variety they offer.

The facility is great , and they race like h ell there .......I've seen more good races than bad there, and that's saying something.

There was some chatter at some time where they mentioned having the drag strip, the gamec ock speedway and the big track all having events running during a long weekend.......man I hope they get that deal set up sometime in the future........racing nirvana right there for me.
