I'm running a 604 crate. Cannot get the rpms below 2200 at idle. Have tried 2 different carbs, doesn't matter wether I run the return from the tandem pump or bypass. Timing set at 34 degrees. I am completely puzzled at this moment.

Sounds like a terrible vacuum leak.

If you put your hand over the carb *chokeit* can you slow idle?
