CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 13th NeSmith Weekly Racing Series season begins this weekend at eight tracks in five states among four divisions. Drivers will begin to compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund over a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National point total.

The four NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Divisions include the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division, the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division, the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division and the newest Division, the Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman Division.

There will two events on Friday night to open the 2018 NeSmith Weekly Racing Series season. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will have competition in the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division. Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA will have action for the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division.

On Saturday night, there will be six NeSmith Weekly Racing Series events. Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA will present the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division. Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN will host the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division.

Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will feature the NeSmith Late Model, Street Stock, and the Late Model Sportsman Divisions. Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL will have the NeSmith Late Model Sportsman Division and the NeSmith Street Stocks in action.

There are two tracks in action on Saturday night that will host all four NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Divisions. North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will each present competition in the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Late Model, Street Stock, Late Model Sportsman, and Modified Sportsman Divisions.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division cars are powered by either the aluminum-head, steel-block 400 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the steel-head, steel-block 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. The 2018 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion will earn $10,000.

The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division cars have two engines to choose from. They can run an Open Engine using a two-barrel carburetor, and a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine using a four-barrel carburetor. The NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman cars use the Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine and an economical shock package.

The Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman car is a three-link Economy Open-Wheel Modified with two Open Engine options running a two-barrel carburetor, or they can run a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine using a four-barrel carburetor. The CRUSA Modified Sportsmen cars also run an economical shock package.

All NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Divisions run on Hoosier Racing Tires. The NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model and NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Divisions run on either the Hoosier Crate Racin’ USA D21 or the Hoosier Crate Racin’ USA D55 tires. The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stocks and the CRUSA Modified Sportsmen run on the Hoosier H500.
