CARTERSVILLE, GA – Mother Nature was the big winner of Week 2 NeSmith Weekly Racing Series competition, as ten of 12 scheduled events were rained out. The two races that were held did change the top of the point standings in three of the four NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Divisions.

Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL took a 40-point win on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL in the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division and now shares the National point lead at 87 points with Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL, who finished second at ECM Speedway.

Matthew Brocato of Muscle Shoals, AL is third in the NeSmith Late Model National points chase with 82 points, followed by Dustin Harris of Flintville, TN in fourth with 79 points, and Alan Banks in fifth with 77 points.

Week 1 winners Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS, Jeff Helms of Centre, AL, Wil Herrington of Cochran, GA, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL are all tied for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Late Model National standings with 50 points apiece.

Mike Lane of Wing, AL picked up the win Saturday night in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division action at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL to move into a five-way tie for the eighth spot in the National standings at 50 points.

The third-place finisher at Southern Raceway, Frank Wilson of Milton, FL took over the NeSmith Street Stock point lead with 98 points, and the second-place finisher at Southern Raceway on Saturday night, Sam Maxie of Vancleave, MS, is second in the standings with 97 points.

Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is third in the NeSmith Street Stock National standings with 94 points and Jeremy Isbell of Vandiver, AL is fourth with 92 points. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL took his second NeSmith Street Stock win of the season on Saturday night at ECM Speedway and holds the fifth spot in the National standings with 90 points.

Steve Maughan is sixth in the NeSmith Street Stock National standings with 88 points and Taras Hodivsky of Foley, AL is seventh with 87 points. Four other Week 1 NeSmith Street Stock winners are tied with Lane for the eighth spot with 50 points, and they include Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS, Dewayne Estes of Sturgis, MS, Jeff Crane of Gadsden, AL, and Wyatt Hill of Finley, TN.

Buddy George of Ragland, AL took his second win of the season on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division to take a commanding lead in the National standings with 100 points. The two other Week 1 winners Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS and Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL are tied for the second spot with 50 points.

There is a four-way tie for the fourth spot in the NeSmith Late Model Sportsman National standing at 49 points among Brad Berry of Attalla, AL, Jamie Pickard of Columbus, MS, Blake Ray of Russellville, AL, and Randy Alexander. There is a four-way tie for the eighth position in the Late Model Sportsman National points at 48 points among Andrew Bailey of Woodland, AL, Chuck Gipson of Tuscumbia, AL, Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS, and Mark Tuck.

Justin Angle still holds the point lead with 40 points in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division Powered by Chevrolet Performance National standings. Ronald Bailey is second with 39 points, and Andy Davis is third with 38 points.

The NeSmith Weekly Racing Series tracks that were rained out are Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS on Friday night, with Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA, Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Enid Speedway in Enid, OK, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS rained out on Saturday night.
