    Question Dry sump ?

    My dry sump tank is right up against the underside of the deck. I have nowhere to mount the catch can/breather so it’s higher than the top of the dry sump tank. How is everyone doing it? Thanks

    Seen some run to back deck right in front of the spoiler.

    Their is no cardinal rule saying it has to be higher it is just the best way to have it positioned. If it is mounted to the rear deck it will spend most of its time higher than the tank

    Biggest thing IMO, is to seal the engine (pull vacuum).

    If the engine has breathers on it, then the pump is pulling more air thru the engine and it has to expel it out the tank. This added amount of air increases the velocity and volume of the air out of the tank thus increasing the amount of oil vapor with the air. It will fill a puke tank quicker and if the hose from the tank to the puke tank has a dip in it, then the oil will puddle there and once it fills the hose (a blockage of the hose) it pushes that oil out at high speed and can puke out of the tank.

    That is the reason you would like it higher then the oil tank so the hose runs up hill and the oil can run back on the bottom of the hose while the air can vent on the upper area of the hose. Any dip in the hose can allow that oil to puddle and block the hose. You can mount puke tank lower and run hose uphill then curve back down to puke tank, while not ideal it doesn't have a downward dip that will accumulate the oil and shoot it thru hose at high velocity when it fills up.

    So a Peterson pop off valve would be a good purchase to make?

    The pop off is just a one way valve, basically the same as no breather but if something happens to engine like a hole is piston or excessive blow by: it will relieve the pressure inside engine instead of blowing out a gasket. It's a safety feature more then anything, I use them but you can do without them.

    There are some that have a vacuum rating on them so you only pull so many inches of vacuum, like limits vacuum to 15" or whatever.
