CARTERSVILLE, GA – Business is picking up for the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Racing Weekly Racing Series with 16 Races at 14 different tracks in seven different states make up Week 5 action. Late reporting results from Week 4 competition have changed the point standings for the four Weekly Racing Series Divisions.

Week 5 competition begins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS for the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division and NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division. Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS hosts the NeSmith Late Models, the NeSmith Street Stocks, and the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division on Friday night.

Making its NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Friday night debut in Week 5 is Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL that will present the NeSmith Late Models, the NeSmith Street Stocks, and the NeSmith Late Model Sportsmen. Salina Speedway in Salina, KS will present action for the NeSmith Late Models.

Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will present a special Friday night show on NASCAR Weekend with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour, the NeSmith Street Stocks, the NeSmith Late Model Sportsman, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The same Divisions will also be in action on Saturday night at TST.

On Saturday night, Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA will host the NeSmith Late Models and NeSmith Street Stocks, while Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN presents the NeSmith Late Models. ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL has the NeSmith Late Models, NeSmith Street Stock, and the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Sportsmen.

Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will open its 2018 NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night with the NeSmith Late Models, and the NeSmith Street Stocks. Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will present Saturday night Week 5 action with the NeSmith Late Models, the NeSmith Street Stocks, and the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Late Model Sportsmen.

Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE opens its 2018 NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season with NeSmith Late Model action on Saturday night, Magnolia Motor Speedway returns on Saturday night with the NeSmith Late Models and the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Late Model Sportsmen.

Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA presents the NeSmith Street Stocks on Saturday night, and Winchester Speedway in Winchester, TN will host the NeSmith Late Models in Week 5 action on Saturday night. One race in on the schedule for Sunday night, as Dawson County Raceway in Lexington, NE rounds out Week 5 competition with the NeSmith Late Models.

Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division point standings after the first four weeks of NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition. Skinner has 194 points after two wins, and five top five finishes in five starts.

Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL leads the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings with 194 points. Fortner has one win and four top five finishes in five races. Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS leads the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 197 points after two wins and four top five finishes in four races.

Justin Angle leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings with 80 points. Angle has a perfect two wins in two starts in NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series’ newest Division.

Drivers in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund during a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National points total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Divisions will be honored at the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Division race cars are powered by either the 400 horsepower aluminum-head, steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the 350 horsepower steel-head, steel-block Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is the engine of choice in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine is the required engine in the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division.
