CARTERSVILLE, GA – A less hectic Week 8 is on tap for the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series with a dozen races on the schedule in five different states. The Week 8 action will begin on Friday night with two events, and there will be ten races on the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series schedule for Saturday night.

There will be 11 races in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, 11 races in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, six races for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division, and three events for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

The pair of Friday night Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events has Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS hosting the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division and the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, while Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL will present the Late Models, Street Stocks, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division.

On Saturday night, three tracks will have all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions in action. Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will present the Late Models, the Street Stocks, the Late Model Sportsman, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

Saturday night races will be held at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN with the Late Models and Street Stocks, ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL has the Late Models, Street Stocks and Late Model Sportsman, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will host the Late Models and the Street Stocks, and Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE presents the Late Models.

Also on Saturday night, Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events will be held at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL with the Street Stocks, Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS with the Late Models, Street Stocks and Late Model Sportsman, while Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN presents the Late Models and the Street Stocks.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with 341 points and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second with 333 points. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third with 322 points.

Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is the National point leader in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division with 336 points. Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second, just three points behind Fortner with 333 points, and Mike Lane of Pace, FL is in the third spot with 329 points.

Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with 320 points, and Brandon Crosby is second with 308 points. Aaron Fitzhugh and Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS are tied for third with 294 points apiece.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL has a three-point lead in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings over Andy Davis. Angle has 235 points and Davis has 232 points. Chris Yarbrough is third with 195 points.

Drivers in the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund during a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National points total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Divisions will be honored at the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division race cars are powered by either the 400 horsepower aluminum-head, steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the 350 horsepower steel-head, steel-block Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.
