The 6th Annual ILMO Propane Wild Man Kelly Classic pays homage to Francis "Wild Man" Kelly who was a fierce competitor on track and a great friend off of it. The cars and stars of the DIRTcar UMP Summer Nationalscome to town for a rare Super Late Model event here at Jacksonville, but it is one of the most anticipated each year. The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds also come to town. Also racing are the DIRTcar UMP Street Stocks This year’s event returns to its traditional mid-June Wednesday date with the Grandstands opening at 5:00, practice at 6:15 and racing at 7:00. Tickets are $25 for Adults, Ages 11-18 $10, and Kids 10 and under free Adult Pit Pass is $35.

By our count, Wednesday will be the 10th Summer Nationals event held at Jacksonville Speedway in the 30 year history of the Summer Nationals. Here's a list of past winners: 17 Billy Moyer 16 Bobby Pierce 15 Bobby Pierce 14 Jason Feger 13 Shannon Babb 12 Jason Feger 08 Wes Steidinger 07 Kevin Weaver 06 Jeep Van Wormer If I am correct, and Butch Wood can correct me - in 2006 which would have been one of the final years of Butch and Ron Milton's time as promoters here, they reached out to Bob Sargent at Track Enterprises to assist in putting on the first Summer Nationals event here in 06 won by Jeep Van Wormer here at Jacksonville Raceway.. During the time of Billy and Kim Clark West as promoters the Summer Nationals were held twice in 07 and 08 here at Morgan County Speedway won by Kevin Weaver and Wes Steidinger. When we took the track over in 2012 we had a "Specials Only" schedule of roughly 10 events. We again reached out to Bob Sargent our first year or two of this event which was held on July 3rd to teach us how to promote and organize a big show. We always view the Summer Nationals as our own measuring stick of where we are in putting on an event. From those first years where we basically handed the keys to Bob and watched and learned to where we are today hosting some really big events - this one included. For those of you who only visit us once per year for this big event, we hope you notice some improvements we've made since last year, hope you find a fairly well-organized and timely show and a great racing surface. We are keeping pit passes at $35 this year in hopes that some of you will consider the $10 upgrade from a front-stretch grandstand ticket and try out our new pit grandstand which has some pretty intense views right at the exit of turn 2 and down the back stretch - while having full pit access all night.
