    Default Dirt Million News Flash

It does not pay 1 million dollars to win, the only promoter that has done that was Earl Baltes, he took the money out of his own bank account and paid ONE MILLION DOLLARS to win, he didn't try to get fans to pay through some pyramid or ponzi scheme.

Thanks for the news flash. There are probably 2-3 people on here that didn’t know that.

Here's the definition of a ponzi scheme so you can stop using that term incorrectly.

    Ponzi scheme

    noun
a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a nonexistent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first investors from money invested by later investors.

Would you also like to break the news that Earl Baltes' Mopar Million didn't pay $1,000,000 to win either?

They announced last night it was up to 3300 to start with a little over a month to go. That is still short of what the Gibsons use to pay to start the show me in the 90’s. Maybe some big donations will happen. But after last night I doubt it.

I really dont know that the free DoD coverage helped Mansfield Speedway much. I understand from the promotional aspect of things what they were trying to do but the track sure was in terrible shape. I was expecting to see a lot better racing surface than what i saw. With the comments from others i hope they get things lined out for the Dirt Million !

It was an infomercial, my problem with this deal is naming it the million which is a complete misrepresentation.

I agree. I wonder what it "realistically" will get to ?

I think it’ll only gain another $5-10k to the total purse plus whatever they get from the DoD buys.

I’m curious to see how much the PPV sales add to the purse personally. I’m not sure what the price point will be or how many buys they generally get but you’d have to think it could boost the purse quite a bit

I’m afraid we’re going to need Jameson to start up front, a man made cushion for JD and Bobby, 100 laps green, no tire rule and a blessing from god to make this one exciting!

I thought just about all race purses are paid for by the fans minus pit passes teams have to pay.

The Dirt Million name was a little misleading, at first, until the details were announced. The goal was to get the total purse to one million dollars, not the pay to win. I don't think they'll get close to that. But a $200k to win and $3,500 to start purse isn't anything to sneeze at.

Everybody who bought tickets technically donated and contributed to the purse.

Doesn't that normally happen anyway at most events?

Normally, the purse is known and sunk up front. The public determines if the promoter makes money and how much. There lies the risk.
