Is the Prairie Dirt Classic a Crown Jewel
The Fairbury people are now calling this event a crown jewel.
The crown jewel handbook says you have to pay at least 50k and run 100 laps.
-
Knoxville doesn't pay 50k, is it a crown jewel?
-
Yes.
When you can, year after year, get both series superstars (even though its a WoO event) plus all the independent stars who don't follow a series to put the PDC on their schedule, it is indeed a Crown Jewel.
2017: 65 cars
2016: 59 cars
2015: 48 cars
Over the last 3 years, what other track/event has seen growth at this rate?
What is with all your hatred toward FALS?
2018:

I love FALS it's greatest track on the planet, everything is perfect and I'll be there camping in my usual camp spot on the backstretch.

some will disagree that it is. If it’s not in two more years it will be 20th anniversary of pdc, only 15 cars shy of matching the dream car count and 2 car shy of matching N.S. 100 last year. If they bump pay to 50k I think it would draw more cars than the dream, dtwc not world 100 tho. Hopefully pdc keeps putting on great shows on. it will keep growing drawing cars and more crowds.
-
If you gonna throw FALS in the crown jewel status then about 8 other races need to be included. Yes, the atmosphere is great and they get 60 plus cars, but that’s not the only thing in the crown jewel status.
FWIW, I really only consider both Eldoras, DWTC, Florence, and maybe Knoxville as crown jewel.

Where is the supposed handbook?
-
I remember back a few years when all the Crown Jewel experts were discussing what constituted a Crown Jewel. ptown is right. That was the unwritten rule. All the talk then just flat wore me out. Of course many considered Eldora as the only crown jewel? Fals fanatics may disagree with that. LOL .
-
Who cares? Its a race at a place like nowhere else.

In ptowns granny's basement lol

No. There are 3 in dirt late model racing: Dream, World and DTWC.
And regardless of what LODLMS (or anyone else) wants you to believe, that is it.

Good grief who cares? Totally subjective, opinions will vary greatly and everyone is entitled to their own.
-
Stupid ass term for any race IMO

No. Its a big race at a sprint car track.
Modern Day Wedge Racing
Florence -1

My analysis is pretty simple. I have been a part of this stuff my whole life.
Crown Jewel = race I would enter and be proud to win if all I got was the trophy.

It is, without a doubt, a crown jewel.

Hudson O'Neal said after his win at Magnolia a few weeks ago, it was a "crown jewel" race, so I think we've reached the point that anything paying $20K or more to win, is a "crown jewel" in the eyes of someone, somewhere.

( Exactly , ) A track putting up 25,000.00 to win or more , That is ( their ) crown jewel .

only 8 crown jewel events
World 100
DREAM 100
DTWC
USA Nationals
Show Me 100
Topless 100
Knoxville
North South 100
anything else is ridiculous to think.
