Brandon Overton Grabs Two More Southern Nationals Win
David Breazeale Continues to Lead WoO Rookie of the Year Battle

Calera, AL (07/31/18) – It was a busy week for Franklin Enterprises drivers Brandon Overton and David Breazeale. Overton piloted his Franklin Fence & Erosion Control #76 BCI Asphalt/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals action, where he claimed two more wins to bring his overall total to five.

Meanwhile, David Breazeale continued his pursuit of the Rookie of the Year title with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series as he battled through the upper Midwest in his Good Hope Land and Timber Management #54 XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

On Tuesday night both drivers of the Franklin Enterprises team were in action with David Breazeale at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) and Brandon Overton at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia).

In a field of 23 World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series entries, Breazeale jumped up one spot in his heat, scoring a third-place finish. Earning the ninth-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, David dropped two positions logging, an 11th-place finish.

For the seventh round of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, Overton registered the third-fastest time in his qualifying group, earning him the sixth-starting position for the A-Main. With $3,500 on the line, Brandon suffered a broken oil pump on the second lap of the feature, ending his night early.

The following night at Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee), Brandon locked his spot into the main event with the third-fastest time in his group. Overtaking Casey Roberts and Michael Chilton for the top spot on lap 10, Overton paced his way to his fourth win of the season over Casey Roberts, Dale McDowell, Michael Chilton, and Craig Vosbergen. He was awarded a $3,500 payday for his efforts.

On Friday night Franklin Enterprises saw both David Breazeale and Brandon Overton in action in two different events. Drawing 29 Super Late Models to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series sanctioned event, Overton was able to record the third fastest time in his qualifying group before steady rain moved in and washed out the night.

David Breazeale was piloting the Franklin Fence #54 Super Late Model entry at Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series-sanctioned, 29th Annual Prairie Dirt Classic. With 61 cars on hand for four rounds of preliminary features, David laid down the 20th-fastest time in his group, which earned him the 10th-starting position for his respective $2,500-to-win feature. Losing one spot in the 25-lapper, Breazeale logged an 11th-place finish.

On Saturday night Overton stopped at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) for the Southern Nationals Series finale. Holding his spot in his 10-lap heat, Brandon scored a third-place finish, positioning him eighth on the starting grid for the A-Main. Overtaking Michael Chilton for the lead on lap-31 after a restart, Overton led for the next 8 circuits until Chilton regained the top spot while battling through lap-traffic. Sliding past Chilton on lap-50, Brandon Overton held the lead for the remaining three laps, capturing his fifth win of the season over Donald McIntosh, Michael Chilton, Casey Roberts, and Dale McDowell. He pocketed a $10,000 prize for his late-race heroics.

Brandon wrapped up the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series point standings in third after his performance on Saturday.

“We would’ve loved to have won the championship, but we are definitely happy with five wins right out of the box with this team,” Overton said. “I’m really excited about what we have in place here. We’re going to take a week to get ready for the North/South 100 week, and see if we can’t go up there and make some noise.”

Returning on Saturday night for his consolation event at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, Breazeale finished eighth in his B-Main, forcing him to rely on a provisional to start the 29th Annual Prairie Dirt Classic finale. Starting 28th on the grid, David gained eight spots to record a 20th-place finish after drawing a caution on lap-31.

On Monday night, WoO action found Breazeale finishing 14th after a scrape with the wall at Plymouth Dirt Track (Plymouth, Wisconsin).

“We’re digging deep right now on the road,” Breazeale noted. “It’s tough going to a lot of these tracks for the first time. My team is busting their tails, and I really appreciate all of their hard work. Hopefully we can knock down a win in one of these upcoming events.”

David continues to lead the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year chase and is ninth in the overall point standings. For full results from these events, please visit www.WoOLMS.com and www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com
