Event Details for Sunday's Wild Man Kelly Classic. This was probably the toughest event decision we've had to make in our time as promoters. Is the field set or is it a new show. Our view is that the B-Mains were not completed and therefore it was a rainout as per our standard policy and the policy of most every race track and series in the area and we are going to start from scratch. This comes after talking to several teams, getting a feel for who really is and isn't coming back and keeping with our standard policy of the B-Mains being completed as the threshold for a complete show. Our main concern was making sure we were giving our fans a complete and great night and event - seeing as the original was a "hurry up" and try to get it in. If you were scheduled to start in the first couple of rows, you were wanting us to finish it - no matter how many cars did or didn't return. If you were starting a little further back you want a new show. The tie breaker for us was... what is our policy for every other event and... what do our fans want? And our fans don't want to drive over an hour to watch 2 features and go home. So... to make it a little easier to swallow for the cars that were scheduled to start up front - we are adding a dash - paid out of our pocket as an "extra". $1,000 to win for the Late Models, $300 to win for the Modifieds for the 15 cars that had transferred through the heats in both classes. In addition, we are guaranteeing a feature starting spot to those 15 cars. 15 provisionals for Lates and Mods. Other than that, it's going to be a full new show. It wouldn't surprise me if a couple of the up-front starters choose not to return feeling they earned their starting spot and that they are getting screwed. We understand that position - and have tried to ease those issues out of pocket through the extra dash. But this is a whole new show - open to anyone. We've talked to several drivers and feel that there will be plenty of star power returning to make it great - and hopefully we get a few new ones as well. We will keep you updated on drivers who are coming throughout the week. It's going to be a great night. Street stocks will still pay $500 to win as before. Racers - this was our decision. Not DIRTcar. The Summer Nationals are over. The Summit Modified Nationals are over. Points are over. This is a DIRTcar sanctioned $5,000 to win Late Model/Modified/Street Stock event. All issues should be directed to us - not at DIRTcar management.
