CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are six weeks left in the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season, and Week 22 will be a busy one with 17 races on the schedule in six different states that include Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas and Nebraska. The point battles for the top ten Points Fund paying spots in the four Divisions are tightening up.

There are scheduled to be 15 races in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, 11 races in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, six races in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division, and three races in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

There are three races on the schedule for Friday night, 13 on tap for Saturday night, and one race will be held on Sunday night in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition. Drivers are either looking to net on their best 14-week point totals, or getting to the 14-week mark to compete for the top ten Point Fund paying positions and the National Championship.

Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will host the Late Models and Street Stocks on Friday night. Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS each have the Late Models in the house on Friday night.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will each host all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions on Saturday night with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsman, and Modified Sportsman Divisions in action.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division will race for $1,000-to-win on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE will have Double Features on Saturday night. The first feature will be a Week 21 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 22 race.

ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will each present the Late Model, Street Stock, and Late Model Sportsman Divisions in action on Saturday night. Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN and Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will each present the Late Models and the Street Stocks on Saturday night.

Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA will have the Late Models in action on Saturday night, and the Late Models will co-sanction with NCRA on Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS. Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA and Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will each host Week 22 action with the Street Stocks on Saturday night.

The lone Sunday night show in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition will be for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division at Dawson County Speedway in Lexington, NE.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS holds a six-point lead over Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS in the battle for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point standings. Scarbrough has a best 14-week total of 694 points and he will be trying to net on a 49. Scarbrough has to win a 50-point race with eight or more cars in the field to gain on his point total.

Russell has a best 14-week total of 688 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46. Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 683 points, and he will be trying to net on a 47. Chase Walls of Decherd, TN is fourth with a best 14-week total of 680 points, and he will be trying to net on a 45.

Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL and the 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS are tied for the fifth spot. Each driver has a best 14-week total of 679 points. McCormack will be trying to net on a 44, and Washington will be trying to net on a 47.

Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS has all but clinched the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship, as just a handful of drivers have a mathematical chance to take the title away. Idom has a perfect best 14-week point total of 700 points represented by 14 50-point wins. Idom has two more in his win account in case of a tie-breaker.

Idom will be trying to join his son Jeremy Idom as a Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Champion. The younger Idom took the title in 2014 driving a 1957 Chevrolet bodied car built by his father.

Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 690 points, and he will be trying to net on a 48. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is third with a best 14-week total of 680 points, and he will be trying to net on a 45. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fourth with a best 14-week total of 671 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46. Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is fifth with a best 14-week total of 668, and he will be trying to net on a 44.

Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL is closing in on a perfect 700-point season. Duncan leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 696 points, and he will be trying to net on a 47. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second with a best 14-week total of 688 points, and he will be trying to net on a 48.

Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is third in the Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 676 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46. Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is fourth with a best 14-week total of 675 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is fifth with a best 14-week total of 666 points, and he will be trying to net on a 43.

The National Championship in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division is the hottest contested battle being wages at three different tracks. Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN is the current point leader with a best 14-week total of 603 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is second in the Modified Sportsman standings with a best 14-week total of 592 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38. Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL is third with a best 14-week total of 590 points, and he will be trying to net on a 37.

Andy Davis of Odenville, AL is fourth with a best 14-week total of 589 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38. Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN is fifth with 559 points and one more week to earn full points before reaching the 14-week mark of his season. A 50-point win in a field of eight or more cars would give Dunavan 609 points.
