CARTERSVILLE, GA – Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS raced to his 18th win of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to clinch the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship with a perfect best 14-week total of 700 points.

Idom now joins his son Jeremy Idom as a Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Champion. Jeremy Idom won the big prize in 2014 driving a 1957 Chevrolet built by his father.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point leader Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS took his 14th win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS to net on a 48. Double E now has a best 14-week total of 699 points, as he closes in on a “perfect season” of 14 weekly 50-point wins.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS and Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS are tied for the second spot in the Late Model standings, as each driver has a best 14-week total of 694 points. Scarbrough could not net on a 49 with a second-place finish on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Russell was the winner on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway to net on a 49.

Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL is fourth in the Late Model standings with a best 14-week total of 686 points. McCormack finished second on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway to net on a 46. The defending Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 685 points.

Leonard may be the “wild card” in the remaining three weeks of the 2018 season, as the results of his two Week 24 Double Features are pending due to an Engine Protest his team filed against another competitor. Leonard’s home track, Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE will also run Double Features in Week 25 action. Week 25 is the final week for Double Features.

While Idom has clinched the title, drivers in the Street Stock Division are still battling for the Top 10 Point Fund paying spots. Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the standings with a best 14-week total of 691 points. Ray finished seventh on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway and was unable to net on a 49.

David Williamson of Seminary, MS finished third on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway to net on a 44 and move up to the third spot in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 683 points. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is fourth with a best 14-week total of 682 points. Winkles finished ninth at Columbus Speedway and was unable to net on a 47.

Steve Maughan of Florence, AL moved into the top five of the Street Stock standings with a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway to net on a 41. Maughan now has a best 14-week total of 672 points.

Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL continues to lead the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division staandings with a best 14-week total of 697 points. Duncan did not compete in Week 24 action. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second with a best 14-week total of 692 points. Mitchell drove to his seventh win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway to net on a 48.

Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is third in the Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 687 points. Brown finished 12th on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway and was unable to net on a 44. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth with a best 14-week total of 682 points. Ray finished second on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway to net on a 46.

Tony Shelton of Steens, MS is fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 677 points. Shelton finished 11th on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway and was unable to net on a 43.

The only Week 24 event on the schedule for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division was rained out on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN leads the National standings with a best 14-week total of 624 points.

Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN and Andy Davis of Odenville, AL are tied for the second spot with each driver having a best 14-week total of 609 points. Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL is fourth with a best 14-week total of 608 points, and Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is fifth with a best 14-week total of 607 points.
