Point Leader Sheldon Creed Leads ARCA Charge Back to Lucas Oil Raceway The ARCA RACING SERIES presented by Menards returns to Lucas Oil Raceway for the rescheduled Shore Lunch 200 on Saturday, October 6. The race was originally scheduled for September 7, but was postponed due to a weekend-long storm system that drenched the Indianapolis area for five consecutive days. Sheldon Creed (No. 28 United Rentals Toyota) comes into the Shore Lunch 200 with a 405-point lead in the series championship with two events remaining. Creed has recently been named to compete in the final four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races of the season, but will have his attention laser focused on closing out the ARCA championship. Creed has three wins so far in 2018, including a short track win at Iowa Speedway in July. "We have had a really strong season," Creed said. "The short tracks haven't been our strong suit. Zane (Smith) has been a little stronger than we have been on the short tracks so he might have a little advantage going in, but we're going to run as hard as we can. We want to close out the season on a strong point and get the championship locked up." Zane Smith (No. 41 LaPaz Margarita Mix/ICON Vehicle Dynamics Toyota) is Creed's closest competitor in the battle for the ARCA Racing Series championship. Smith, Creed's teammate at MDM Motorsports, has four wins in 2018, including a pair of victories on short tracks at Nashville and Toledo. While Smith may have an uphill battle to steal away the overall series championship, he is in a great position to take home the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge, a championship within the overall series championship conducted on tracks under one mile in length. "It would be great for a young guy like myself to have the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge championship on my resume," Smith said. "We've had a really good season on the short tracks. We might not have a realistic chance at the overall championship but we're taking the short track championship very seriously. We're going to do everything we can to win it." The Shore Lunch 200 will also see the return of veteran driver Tom Hessert III (No. 22 NutriChomps Ford) to the series. Hessert has 185 career series starts, with six career wins and 110 top ten finishes. Hessert's first career win came with Cunningham Motorsports in 2010; team owner Chad Bryant bought the assets of that organization in the off season from owners Kerry Scherer and Briggs Cunningham. Hessert's last start came earlier this season at Daytona. At LOR, he will drive the car originally assigned to 2016 series champion Chase Briscoe. Briscoe could not return due to obligations with his NASCAR XFINITY Series team, opening the door for Hessert. "I've been talking to Chad Bryant about doing a race or two all season," Hessert said. "He's been focused on his primary deal with Joe Graf, and I've been busy taking care of business on my end so it just hasn't worked out. When the race was postponed I figured Chase wouldn't be able to make it back. I have a lot of history with Chad and his team, so it's like going back and racing with family." Discounted tickets for Saturday’s race can be purchased at Indianapolis area Menards stores for just $20 or can be ordered by calling 217-764-3200 for just $5 more. Tickets will be available at the gate on raceday as well. For detailed information regarding schedule, pricing, etc., visit www.trackenterprises.com. ARCARacing.com will have exclusive live coverage of all on-track activity from the Shore Lunch 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway for registered users, including live audio streams of practice starting at 2 pm ET and General Tire Pole Qualifying at 4:15 pm ET. ARCARacing.com will have an exclusive live four-camera video stream of the race starting at 7:15 pm ET. ARCARacing.com will also have live timing & scoring of all on track activity. Registration to access all of the exclusive content from the Shore Lunch 200 is free.

Harrison Burton Leads List Of Young Stars Into Lucas Oil Raceway Saturday ARCA Event Features Young Up And Coming Drivers (Indianapolis, IN) Over the years, the ARCA RACING SERIES presented by Menards has had a large number of graduates move from their series into successful careers among the top three levels of NASCAR. Most believe this year will be no different, as the entry lists throughout the 2018 season have boasted many talented young drivers who have bright futures in racing. Fans will get to see plenty of that talent on track this weekend as Saturday’s ARCA Racing Series Shore Lunch 200 At Lucas Oil Raceway presented by Load Trail will have a long list of potential winners, led by Harrison Burton. Harrison Burton, the son of retired NASCAR racer, Jeff Burton, has had what many would call a good career already, winning numerous Super Late Model races, five NASCAR K&N Series races and the 2017 championship, a championship during the World Series at New Smyrna, and two races with the ARCA Racing Series, Toledo in 2017 and Pocono this year. Burton also has two top five’s in just four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts this season. The 17-year old, who will turn 18 on Tuesday, will also be competing with the NASCAR K&N Series at Dover on Friday night. Californian, Sheldon Creed, looks to be on his way to the 2018 championship and has three wins this year. That said, none of the three wins came on one of ARCA’s typical short tracks. Creed has found victory lane at Michigan, Gateway, and Iowa. He does have some solid short track finishes, though, with top fives at Nashville, Salem, and Madison. Those finishes have propelled him into the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge lead. Creed is a well-versed driver, racing not only in ARCA but sports cars and off road trucks. Second place point man and fellow Californian, Zane Smith, will definitely be one of the favorites Saturday night. Smith has the most wins on the series with four but has also had some bad luck which has put him 405 points behind Creed. Smith has wins at Nashville, Talladega, Toledo, and Pocono. Smith, who came onto the racing scene strong in 2015 when he won the Super Late Model World Series championship at New Smyrna, has a top five finish to his credit in his only NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start. One driver to keep an eye on will be Wheeling, WV’s Travis Braden. Braden won at Lucas Oil Raceway in his first ever ARCA start in 2015 but hasn’t found victory lane since. This season is Braden’s first full run with the series. He has four top fives in 18 starts, but more impressively, three of those top fives came in the last four starts. The MatrixCare/Consonus Healthcare sponsored team is based in the Indianapolis area, so this race will be on their home turf. Other young wheelmen to keep an eye on will be former Snowball Derby winner, Christian Eckes, Gibbs Racing driver Riley Herbst, and Chandler Smith, who has won two races in eight starts this year. Natalie Decker, Gus Dean, Sam Mayer, Thad Moffitt, Michael Self, Joe Graf, Jr., and Carson Hocevar are also drivers vying for the Shore Lunch 200 trophy. Fans wishing to attend Saturday’s event can get discount advance sale tickets at Indianapolis area Menards locations for just $20 each. If not in the Indianapolis area, tickets are also available by calling the Track Enterprises office at 217-764-3200 or by purchasing at the gate on raceday. Pit gates open Saturday at 10:00 AM, grandstands open at 1:30 PM, Thunder Roadster practice is at 1:30, ARCA practice from 2:00-3:30, Thunder Roadster heats are at 3:45, ARCA General Tire pole qualifying is at 4:15, and the Thunder Roadster feature is at 5:00. An on track driver autograph session will be held from 5:30-6:30, leading up to the Shore Lunch 200 at 7:00. Full information on the event can be found at www.trackenterprises.com, www.arcaracing.com, or www.lucasoilraceway.com.
