Billy Moyer Rules Lake Cumberland Classic for Career Win #835; Seeks Another Globe Trophy!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer collected his ninth feature win of the 2018 campaign on Saturday night, October 6 in the annual 'Lake Cumberland Classic' at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky! In an event tri-sanctioned by the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series, Schaeffer's Oil Iron-Man Championship Series, and MARS Racing Series, Billy earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session prior to securing a heat race triumph. The Batesville, Arkansas superstar then came out on top of the 50-lap headliner to record his 835th career feature win and the $5,000 payday (that soared to $6,100 with added bonuses) over Michael Chilton, Tanner English, Scott James, and Camaron Marlar!

A night earlier in the annual 'Iron-Man Classic' at Lake Cumberland Speedway, each of the three series tri-sanctioned the $3,000 to win weekend opener. Billy knocked down the second quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session before claiming the win in his heat race. The popular driver known as "Mr. Smooth" then wheeled his familiar #21 machine to a strong runner-up performance on Friday in the Commonwealth of Kentucky behind only victor Michael Chilton. Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) will now make a return trip to the hallowed high-banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on October 12-13 for the remainder of the 48th edition of the fabled ‘World 100.’ Billy finished a strong second in his Twin 25 – after leading much of the 25-lap sprint – back on Thursday, September 6 before inclement weather postponed the final two nights of racing action at the “Big E.” Things will pick up right where they left off on Friday, October 12 with a pair of Twin 25s – each of which will boast a $10,000 top prize. Combined points from the two prelim nights will set the lineup for Saturday’s traditional six heat races.

Following the heat races on Saturday, October 13 at the 1/2-mile speedplant, two consolation races will finalize the starting field for the 48th Annual ‘World 100.’ A large crowd is expected to file into Eldora Speedway to witness the 100-lap crown jewel spectacular, which is set to pay a hefty $51,000 to the winner. Billy has transferred into twenty-five ‘World 100’ headliners throughout his illustrious career and is the only six-time winner of the event, as he found victory lane in the “Granddaddy Of Them All” in 1991, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2000, and 2010.
