    Default Sweet rack and pinion

Question about the outer eyes that the tire rod bolts to. This one has slots on each side for the tire rod to bolt to. A 3/8 bolt is what fits the slot. A guy was running reducers in the heim to make the 3/8 bolt work. My opinion is the 3/8 bolt is no where near strong enough for my liking for the inner tire rod. Is this a common deal to run a 3/8 bolt to bolt the tire rod to the rack?

Been running that same setup for years....grade 8 bolt works great.

That bolt can be smaller since it is in double shear not single.

Just for some additional context, the shear strength of a Grade 8 3/8" bolt is about 7000 pounds. That's more than enough bolt for this application.

I figure the aluminum tube will bend/break before the bolt.

Have they changed something or do you guys use different spacers then what sweet sells with the rack. All our stuff has always had 7/16 bolts for the rack slot bushings. I think a 3/8 is more than adequate in this setup i just haven't seen it
