Bummer that Donnellson is missing, as that track is awesome for open late models. Although, the Stuart date is basically a replacement...
Hopefully MLRA can get a Saturday night track to follow Muskogee (was West Plains last year), a Saturday night track to follow Rock Rapids (was scheduled to be Park Jefferson last year), and a Saturday night track to follow Lakeside (the date was also open last year). A Friday night event on Labor Day weekend would of course also make that weekend even better.
Glad to see Longdale, OK back in operation after a year break, and to see Enid try out a big LM show like this. Glad for the other new tracks as well, to go with the returning tracks. Not too bad of a schedule, and a little bit better than I had envisioned.
-
Chris Simpson has all the dates on his schedule up to the Show Me.
-
Anyone seen or heard anything on 2018 champ Chad Simpson? Knew about his car owners getting out but wondered if anything is in the works for 2019, heck of a wheel man to be sitting wayside in my opinion.......

I see Cresco (IA) has been added on Thursday, June 20, one night prior to Rock Rapids. Surprising to see that, as it has been quite a few years since open late models ran at Cresco. It is a nice Fairgrounds track. Hopefully the series is able to fill the Saturday night slot for that weekend as well. Perhaps Webster City would like to give it a shot?
-
MLRA at Belle Clair? Interesting, have to pencil that one on the calendar.
-
West Union and Cresco would be very interesting.
-
Was hoping Deer Creek would get a race again. I think they tryed twice but got rained out both times if I remember right

I just about fell off my chair when I saw the words "Cresco" and "Open Late Models." They really had some great Corn Belt Clash races for a few years on Labor Day weekend. Maybe Deer Creek will try the MLRA again - back in 2016 they had a rescheduled show and drew 21 LM and a sparse crowd. I'm pretty pumped about Cresco, though, since that was the 2nd or 3rd track I ever attended...way back in 1974.

Above, I had thrown out Webster City as a possible Saturday night track to follow Cresco and Rock Rapids in June. I now see that Webster City already has the Malvern Bank late models series scheduled for that Saturday night June 22. I am not exactly familiar with Malvern Bank series rules, and how they differ from MLRA. Could the MLRA guys hit Webster City that Saturday night to make it a 3 night weekend, or are the rules between the two series vastly different?
Cresco, Rock Rapids, and Webster City would be a pretty nice late model weekend for fans in that area for sure.

The mlra guys would have to run a plate and weight on the front.

Have any open motor guys tended to do these things to run with the MBLMS from time to time in the past, or has there not been much crossover between the two series? I am interested in the MBLMS, I just haven’t followed them closely enough to know if many “outsiders” run with them. And truthfully, I would attend Webster City on that Saturday regardless. Just figuring, the more cars the better, especially given that the MLRA guys will have already run the previous two nights in northern Iowa.

MLRA ???? What does it stand for

Midwest Late Model Racing Association, I believe

Interesting to watch this evolve over the years, MLRA was primarily a Missouri based in the early days both in terms of dates and drivers. As open late model racing In Southern Missouri has stumbled the presence of MLRA has faded. Simple, go where the drivers are. SLMR has taken the lead in Nebraska and western Iowa. The Cash Money Series has several dates in 2019 in Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri including West Plains. MLRA has moved more North and East. I see some new events that might prove to be fun; Dubuque, Rapid, Quincy, and Belleville to be specific.
I hate time trials.
-
Sure would Like to see Jackson, Deer Creek or even Cedar Lake try to get a race sometime.
-
Where does it say Cresco on Schedule?
-
If you go to the MLRA website Cresco is on the schedule there.
-
@dirt 33.
Some crossover, not much. I believe Ryan Gustin has an slmr win from when he was driving for Gressel. Jason Papich did it 3 or 4 times when he was racing out here. The guys that do it now like JC Wyman and Jeremy Grady have separate cars. However, last year at the sdn Andrew Kosiski ran the same car for the Lucas oil and SLMR portion. He did make the Lucas oil show through his heat.
