Default Post a little about you

After seeing someone mention their occupation on another thread, I thought itd be cool to have a thread where we could tell a little about ourselves. I don't post often, but read this section almost daily. Be nice to know a little about that person when considering their opinion ( or rant in most cases lol ) Maybe where your from, age and occupation.. and anything else you want them to know like retired military or something.

Im a 35 year old firefighter for the D.O.E. from Paducah, Ky. I also am a volunteer firefighter which has became to be my second love behind dirt racing. The Zero is my guy, even thought I started out as hater. The more fans that booed against him, the more I liked him. Some of the funnest part of going to the races, (especially Eldora) is sitting next to a Zero hater and having a good natured back and forth about ol bloomer all weekend while enjoying a few cold beverages.

Cool idea for a thread, I’ll join in

38 years of age, been a electrician for 20 years. Self employed for the last 13. Married with a five year old boy.

Usually only attend 4-5 races a year because of a busy life. When we do go to races I like to go to quality shows/tracks. Like to head north if I’m going to a race. From my experiences it’s worth the extra drive. World 100 and a couple hell tour races are always in my plans. Don’t really have a all out favorite or least favorite driver but if Shannon Babb is not in the pits I’d rather not go. Fun to watch that guy bang the cushion.

I see you’re from Paducah, PIR is where I first caught the dirt bug 15 or so years ago. Sure wish that place could get back on its feet. I saw on the hell tour schedule that they’re on it for 2019. You think it’ll happen?

    My 2 cents..……

I'm 66 yrs young and a retired welder/fabricator. Was married for 39 yrs until 5 yrs ago and lost my wife to $#&^ing cancer. Joined the Marines 2 weeks out of high school, did a tour in Vietnam, and got out after 2 yrs. I started out loving sprint cars and would hang out at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix watching guys like Leland McSpadden, Ronnie Shuman, etc.

I moved to Ca. and started my career and got roped into working on a friends hobby stock. I was hooked on fendered race cars after that. In LM's I've built, repaired, and re-clipped many. When the cars started going 4 bar, I backed off helping guys due to the need to concentrate on making a living......lol, hence the name "formercrewguy".

Fast forward to about 7 yrs ago, and I started helping out a good friend, Pete VanIderstine. Due to lack of cars, and decent LM racing on the West Coast, we started venturing to the Midwest and hitting 4 or 5 LOLMDS races a yr. with Clay Daly as the driver. At the WWSO in 2 weeks Pete's car will have a new driver, Cody Laney. Keep an eye on him in the future.....the kid is really good.

I am 59 and Director of Sales for an insurance company in King of Prussia, Pa. I have been married for 31 years and have 3 children in their 20's and all are off of my payroll. I got an interest in racing from my father who grew up watching midgets at the old Yellow Jacket Speedway in Philadelphia in the 40's. Growing up in South Jersey I was originally a fan of Big Block Modifieds at tracks like Flemington, Bridgeport and East Windsor.

After getting married I moved to Eastern Pennsylvania in the late 80's and become a fan of 410 Sprint Cars in Central Pa and have been a regular fan at Williams Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal etc.

I travel a little bit for my job. A few years ago I happened to be Salisbury, MD for work and to kill some time went to see a WoO Dirt Late Model race on a Thursday night at Delaware International Speedway. For years, even though the DLM's raced in front of my nose, I never gave them a second look. For some reason I became an instant fan that night. I now split my race chasing of approximately 20 to 25 races a year equally between sprint cars and dirt late models.

This season I finally got to see Scott Bloomquist race in person at Hagerstown and Port Royal Speedways. I also saw my first Crown Jewel event at Lernerville. I have passed on my love of dirt track racing to my son and two daughters and although they lead busy lives themselves, they are all still willing to go to a few races each year with the "old man"

    Default Me

37 years old, born in Warren, Ohio, live in Lancaster, Ohio. Went to college down this way and liked it better, so I stayed here. Married for 12 years, together for 18. 2 daughters, 12 and 6. Been around racing my whole life. My Dad raced, now my brother does. My Dad passed from a rare blood cancer in 2013, really blows, especially at Christmas time.

I started out running equipment at 16, and it’s all I’ve ever done. The last 8 1/2 years I’ve been in the IUOE Local 18 outta Columbus. I’m primarily a loader operator on a pipe crew. I stay with the same company, I don’t jump around.

I only hit 2-5 races a year. Between work, family, and house stuff, I just don’t go a lot. DoD and people I know from racing is how I try to keep up on it.

I know I can be an ahole on here. I try not to be, some just push my buttons.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to y’all, even my button pushers.
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

56 years old, just retired from a Union Electric linemans job. 37 years with the same company. Live in Northwest Illinois, have motorhome and travel for late model shows, don't care who wins as long as it's a good race.

Dirt Junkie, for some reason the 'reply with quote' wont work for me...

I grew up at PIR. I can actually see the lights from my current home now when they are lit. i attended my first race there in the 80s, i was still in diapers i believe. I dont know if they will ever open back up... i hope so, but only if it changes from what its been the last 10 years. Its been pretty depressing for what has been offered for the fans. I dunno what all its gonna take, but its def gonna take some passion and $$$.

As a kid i also attended Mt Vernon Il, Clarksville Tn, Mortons Gap Ky, Haubstadt In, Central City Ky, and occasionally Milan Tn. I was lucky that my dad and uncle were always going and raced several classes over the years. My Grandpa on my moms side was the one i could count on to take me to the big shows.. like the time he picked me up from school and said "get in, your mom packed you a bag.. " What seemed like 20 hours later we show up at West Plains motorspeedway for the 2nd annual show me 100. He also took me to my first Jackson 100 at Brownstown. He was the one who taught me to talk smack. He would just randomly start talking to some stranger and by the end of the night they would be going back and forth, ribbing each other and laughing. I guess i kinda picked that up, and ive passed it on to my 11 year old nephew who was giving JD fans 'down the road' at The Dream this summer. They were laughing at how hyped up he was.

These days my races are further and fewer between. Eldora once or twice, and some occasional hell tour races, and i try to get to Haubstadt and one other new track every year. I lost my dad a week after the 1st attempt of the 2018 World 100 in september.. going back there in October to where we had set for the last 8 years was definately different. I got one son, he graduated high school in may, and my 6 year old daughter was just baptized at church yesterday. That probably has been one of the proudest moments of my life.

Im 56 years old, married for 30 years, and the proud father of 2 girls, 21 and 16. I got the racing bug from my dad who crew chiefed his brother-in-laws cars to several hundred wins all across the south. He also was a original crew member on Ray Fox's Cup teams for many years.I started out crewing for a family member in a llm and ended up working with Epj for many years. So, Ive been to a lot of dirt tracks and Cup tracks all across the south as well.

Unfortunately, my dad passed away in 2009 from a heart attack. Even though I heard his racing stories a million times, I find myself missing them a lot these days. We worked together as well and butted heads many times but we were always able to keep our business and personal lives separate. He was a successful businessman and passed some of those genes down to me. But the greatest "gift" was his love and passion for his savior, Jesus Christ. I became a believer as well in 1984 and have never regretted that decision.

Merry Christmas to all of you and hope you discover the real meaning of Christmas! God bless!

Been a dirt racing fan for a long time - caught the bug at the age of 7 with my uncle and ain’t ever been able to get rid of it. Lol. Live in northwest Georgia and am blessed to have many tracks here and in neighboring states to catch a close race at ( 4-5 hours) Work as a mechanic and travel all over the US to races. None too far away when time permits. (Bout 25-30 a year)Love all but one driver - but can even deal with him winning as long as race is good lol. Merry Christmas to all u guys and hope to see ya at the races!

    Married 23 years, no kids
    Georgia
    Technical Option Trend Trader

Began helping a friend with a hobby car in 1986, then his father with a super late model, Leon Sells was the driver. Began racing karts in 91' and continued till 2002. 1998 I went to work at Carrera Racing Shocks and was the Production supervisor as well as repairs, custom valve work and R&D. Stayed till company was sold in 2004. 02' and 03' worked with Buck Simmons on John Deere car as shock specialists, then 04' to 06' worked for Nick Manley Race Cars(Rayburn Dealer) as shock specialists. 07' & 08' worked with Spiderman Bill Morgan, M1. I haven't been active with anyone since the end of 2008, just didn't like where the cars were going. Since the end of 2015 I've been frequenting non-wing sprint races whenever I can, I think they are a better deal than DLM for the average guy anymore. I keep hoping the rule makers will wise up before DLM kills itself, but...

    Merry Christmas

My Dad took me to the races when I was a kid and I was instantly hooked. Growing up my Dad and Uncle had a street stock and I loved helping them. In my early 20's I bought a street stock and raced for 3 years at Millstream, Limaland and even ran at Eldora. Since then I've been helping crew and sponsor cars for my brother and a few buddies with their stocks, mods, lates, karts, and sprints. I attend races as much as I can usually 25-50 a year.

31 year old Territory Sales Manager for Genuine Parts Company (NAPA). I'm assigned to 20 stores in KY and help with sales plans, inventory control, open stores, assist with store moves etc etc. Worked at an independently owned store for 10 years before getting hired on with them.
    I've got two girls (3 and 5)
My dad wanted to get into the racing thing after the divorce with my mom. So we worked some stuff out with Greg Lucas after he stopped running the old Renegade tour in 2002 and started a limited late model team in 2003. He drove for us until 2009 and i started driving limited lates from 2009 to 2013 then stepped up to supers in 2014.
Been working on trying to get out, just because its old and it's not as big a deal and i thought it was when I was 15, or 21 when I thought I was racing Jesus and couldnt be beat, plus super lates humbled me quite a bit.

    25. Field service tech for a construction company after being a mechanic/auto tech for 4 1/2 years. Single, no kids I think, haha j/k

Dad raced on and off his whole life. I started racing at 13 in a Jr. Fwd class. Ran some sort of fwd for 7 years. Ran trucks and some figure 8 stuff. Now have been racing a sportmod for 6 years. Gotta find a new car to replace what I totaled last year. Also going to do more rally racing.

My family built and ran our own track for 6 years. Then shut it down and moved on. Now me and my brother travel to race and go watch some if the big races in Iowa. Also go to a lot of concerts.

    Eat, sleep, and breath racing.
Just a Sportmod racer at Nelson Boys Racing.
