    Default Track saved

Badlands Motor Speedway was set to be demolished if no ownership was found. Until now.

    Alittle premature........

“Rubin has requested 30 to 60 days to arrange the financing and investor group to keep the track open and work on plans to start racing operations this spring under the Huset’s Speedway name. The plan is for the season opener to take place during Memorial Day weekend.”

I wanna say it was 6 million.

This deal is no where close to being done. He has no investors or financing yet. All it says is “yeah I’ll buy but need 30-60 days to figure out how.”

Well here's hoping they find the $ and keep this joint open.

$6 million...that's a boat load of $15 spectator tickets, hot dogs, and pit passes. Hope they make it.

The investors will have to know it's a donation. It was sold for 2 million I think when Chucky Cheese bought it. 6.3 million is the figure I've heard is the selling price now. I don't care if u make $250,000 per year, that only takes care of what there interest would have been. It's great that investors may get the track bought but I would call them donaters.

If you read that article, it’s a far cry from a done deal. Huset’s seems like a sweet track. Am I to assume this guy dumped millions into it thinking he’s going to recoup it in 2-3 years. A theory I’ve never understood. It is a long term commitment. I’d guess 5-10 years to see some of your hard work, money spent, pay off.

Having been there Husets was a special place, and I’m not a winged sprint fan. When the current owner bought it he was going to change the world, big talker. Raised the weekly purse above sustainability, was going to put Knoxville out of business, and was antagonistic towards sprint sanctioning bodies. Classic case of mouth overloading his rear end.

    Default C&B

Recollection is he started a payday loan company, Dollar Loan or something like that, originally in Las Vegas before expanding outward. Also promoted some concerts. Don’t have any personal knowledge of him but he is a fairly controversial figure around the Sioux Falls area.

Never been to Huset’s, drove by there in 2015 rolling West on a Fire Assignment. That said, I’ve turned about 3000 laps there on the original WoO Sprintcars PS2 game. Nice layout, seems like it would be kickass venue to catch a show, a la Grand Forks. Hopefully they get something worked out.

Same here. Was real good on the sprint car game. And Chico was sweet.

Only game my wife would usually play. 16-18 years ago in college, we’d smoke some stuff and I’d whip her butt at the WoO sprint game.

One of these days we will get another valid attempt. Not quite iRacing, but something similar.

Now that you mention it, I do remember that. And you just chuckle and shake your head. And watch him fail. Puffing out your chest and putting down the sprint car capital is not very smart.

Chico, I-55, Knoxville, Bloomington, and oddly, Terre Haute were my favorites on that game. Still pull out the PS2 every once in a while and play it. Crazy hard to use a GT Force wheel.

Maybe some of you gamers can tell me what we're doing wrong that we don't win every week at Chico in the real cars. Just a main or two each season, a lot of heat wins and top 3 in the mains most Friday nights. LOL

It would have bee a perfect deal if he would have run Sunday nights like they did for 50 years. Jackson Friday, Knoxville Saturday, Husets (Badlands) Sunday BUTT: He thought he was going to put everyone out of business. The Grandstand lost at least 2000 Fans each night and he didn't give a (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word), tax rightoff. This never works that way and Westland MO is fine because Forrest loves racing.

Haha, the video game A Mains for Silver Dollar are wreck fests. Cars slap the back stretch wall or exit over the turns and merge back in randomly. Even on a video game the track is a blast. It’s kick @ss that you get to run there.
