has anyone tried a 16" 100 lb spring on the lr side on a crate car and what feed back can you give?

That's kinda stiff, actually, depending on how you look at it. I assume this is softer than what you run now. If so, the car will hike up faster with any kind of lateral acceleration. The car will be tighter on entry if it sits down getting into the corner. There are plenty of super late models running with a rate well below 100# for at least part of the travel.
