Default Ulms late model series kicks off 2019 with $9k weekend at williams grove & port royal

The 2019 Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series is about to begin an enormous 19th season of operating dirt late model events in the northeast region. The season kicks off with a huge 3-day weekend in central Pennsylvania, where the legendary Williams Grove Speedway will host the ULMS Late Models for the 1st time ever on Friday March 22nd, followed by 2 events at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday and Sunday March 23rd & 24th, paying $3,000 to win at all 3 events.

Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA will host the 2019 season opener for the ULMS Late Models on Friday, March 22nd and this will be the 1st late model event at the Grove since 2017, which saw Bryan Bernheisel, Rick Eckert and Gregg Satterlee win the 3 late model events on the schedule. This will be the ULMS Late Model Series 1st appearance at Williams Grove, who are celebrating their 80th season of operation in 2019. Joining the ULMS Late Models will be the 410 sprint cars.

The series will then head north to Port Royal Speedway and visit the Speed Palace for 2 days of action. Saturday March 23rd will see the ULMS Late Model Series go 30 laps for $3,000 to the winner. This will be the 3rd ULMS event held at Port Royal after seeing Jason Covert and Tyler Bare winning the 2 ULMS shows in 2018. Port Royal Speedway’s 2 ULMS events last year generated 42 cars on hand for competition. Joining the ULMS Late Models on the Saturday portion will be the 410 sprint cars and the Mason Dixon Limited Late Models.

Sunday, March 24th will be the final day of the 3-day Central Pennsylvania Kickoff Weekend and the 2nd day of action at Port Royal Speedway. Another $3,000 to win event will be on tap for the ULMS Late Models and they will be joined by the Short Track Super Series Big Block Modifieds.

The Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series – Close Racing Supply Elite drivers of Max Blair, Mike Wonderling, Jason Dobson, Mike Pegher, Michael Lake, John Weaver and Al Brewer will all be on hand. Central Pennsylvania stars of Dylan Yoder, Bryan Bernheisel, Jeff Rine, Nick (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son, Jason Covert and Coleby Frye are all expected to be on hand along with many others from the mid-Atlantic region.

ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place for all 3 events, which includes hot laps, time trials, 8 lap qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. The ULMS shows at Port Royal last year were great shows with good car counts. ULMS is a very good series with a bunch of good people running it.
