Garrett Alberson Returns to Driver’s Seat with Pair of Podiums
Rejoins Black Diamond House Car Team as LOLMDS Action Resumes

Shreveport, Louisiana (04/02/19) – Some last-minute thrashing and some heroics behind the wheel rewarded Garrett Alberson with a pair of podium finishes over the weekend in Super Late Model competition.

Piloting Slick Swayne’s No. 1 Black Diamond Race Car Super Late Model, Alberson raced to Top-3 finishes in Mississippi and Louisiana.

“It was a fire drill kind of weekend,” Alberson laughed. “First, we thrashed on the car to get it ready at the last minute. Then, we had travel logistic issues each day that caused us to miss qualifying. As a result, we started at the back of both features. Despite all of that, we still managed to get a second and third-place finish, which felt really good.

“I want to thank Slick Swayne for the opportunity, and I look forward to racing with him again later in the season.”

Arriving late at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Friday night, Garrett started 11th on the feature grid for the $3,525-to-win, unsanctioned event. He quickly worked his way forward through the pack into the Top 5. Late in the event he applied heavy pressure to Neil Baggett for the top spot before ultimately settling for a runner-up finish. Jamey Boland, Austin Arnold and Mark Dodson completed the Top-5 finishers.

On Saturday night the team was scheduled to compete in the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Model event at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, incoming rain led to the event being canceled mid-afternoon. As a result, the team hightailed it south to Thunder Valley Speedway (Glenmora, Louisiana) for a Weekly Racing Series Event.

The team arrived in time for Garrett to start 13th in the feature. He went on to race to a third-place finish behind Robbie Stuart and Brandon Hightower.

This weekend – April 5-6 – Garrett returns to turning wrenches on Earl Pearson Jr’s. No. 1 Black Diamond Race Car as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series resumes its 2019 season. The team will compete on Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) before heading to North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Georgia) on Saturday night.

Earl is third in the latest LOLMDS standings.
