Rodney Sanders Wires USMTS Foes at JMS for $3,000 Victory
Cajun Clash at Ark-La-Tex Speedway Next

Happy, Texas (04/08/19) – Rodney Sanders led every lap of Friday night’s United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) event at Mississippi’s Jackson Motor Speedway to claim his second win of 2019. The victory in his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Kenny’s Tile/ ARMI Contractors/ MB Customs Modified was worth $3,000 and marked his second triumph of 2019.

“The race track definitely had some character so you had to stay up on the wheel,” Sanders noted. “Anytime you can get a win it’s a good night, and this one was especially good since the other two races got rained out. Hopefully, weather will be better for this weekend at Ark-La-Tex Speedway. It’s a fun place, and I always enjoy racing there.”

Friday night saw Rodney Sanders return to action with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi). In a field of 27 cars, Sanders advanced four spots in his heat race to place third.

Earning the fourth-starting position for the opening night feature, Rodney jumped out to an early lead. He paced the field throughout the event, and then survived a late-race challenge from Zack VanderBeek in the closing laps to capture his second win of the season and a $3,000 payday. VanderBeek, Terry Phillips, Timothy Culp, and Logan Robertson completed the Top-5 finishers in the 30-lap affair.

Saturday and Sunday’s events at Whynot Motorsports Par and Magnolia Motor Speedway fell victim to rain.

Rodney currently leads the USMTS National Championship standings. For complete standing as well as full results, please visit www.USMTS.com .

Sanders and the rest of the USMTS traveling contingent will hope for better weather this weekend – April 11-13 – as they head to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) for the seventh annual Cajun Clash.

The event is headlined by a $10,000-to-win finale.
