ADAIRSVILLE, GA – With 16 races on the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 4 schedule of events, the score was Mother Nature 9 and the Weekly Racing Series 7. North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL was rained out on Saturday night for the third straight week, and for the second straight week, they will run on Tuesday night with a Week 4 Make-Up race.

Two events were run on Friday night, and Chris McElhenney of Decatur, MS drove the M-D Metals Rocket to victory in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division race at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Jeremy Eaton won the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division race on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.

Dusty Leonard won the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division season opener on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS. Friday events at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and Thunder Valley Speedway in Glenmora, LA were rained out.

Leonard took his second win of the weekend on Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS in a Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model race co-sanctioned with NCRA. Blake Salakas won the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division race Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN won the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division season opener at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Scott Davis Farms Special, and Jimmy Via was the winner at Greenville Speedway in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division.

Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS took a hometown win on Saturday night driving the B.J.’s Tire and Service Center Special in Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division action at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

David Williamson of Seminary, MS won the Durrence Layne Street Stock race on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and Zack Owens of Richland, MS drove the KB Motorsports Special to his first Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division win of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at WMP.

Bobby Chandler won the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division race on Saturday night at Thunder Valley Speedway. Saturday night races at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, North Alabama Speedway, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN were all rained out.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point standings after Week 4 competition with 140 points. The General holds a one point lead over Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is two points back in the third spot.

Dylan Hamilton of Cantonment, FL is the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division point leader after Week 4 action with 194 points. The 14-year-old driver holds a 13-point lead over Joe Nicholson of Fort Walton Beach, FL with 181 points. Bobby Chandler and Joe Rachel are tied for the third spot with 146 points apiece.

Morgan Lambert leads the Durrence Layne Late Model Sportsman Division standings after Week 4 action with 136 points and a five-point lead over Heather Lowe of Warrior, AL. Owens is third with 98 points. Rex Berry of Huntingdon, TN with 99 points leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings after Week 4 competition.

There is a three-way tie for second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings among Brent Smith of Rutherford, TN, defending National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN, and Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL with 98 points apiece. Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN is fifth with 96 points.

Drivers competing the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions in National points will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

The Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series four Divisions are designed around one of two economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division can compete with both engines.
