Dale McDowell Claims Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Championship
Dirt Late Model Dream Next on the Schedule

Mooresburg, Tennessee (05/28/19) – On the heels of a trio of Top-10 finishes in Memorial Day weekend action, Dale McDowell claimed the 2019 Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Championship his Shane McDowell Racing/ E-Z-Go #17m New Era Industrial/ Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

It marked his first-ever championship with the series.

“As a team, we’re extremely proud to win this championship. Donald [McIntosh] definitely gave me a great run for it, and I hated to see those guys have bad luck tonight,” McDowell said. “Ray [Cook] and his staff have put together a really great series, and it’s an honor to win the title.

“A very special thank you goes out to all of sponsors and supporters. We’re going to take a week off and get ready for the Dream at Eldora. Hopefully we can go up there and win another a big check.”

Saturday night saw the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series kick off the Memorial Day weekend at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) with a $4,000-to-win affair. Qualifying third fastest in his group, McDowell earned the fifth-starting position for the opening night feature.

Gaining two spots in the 40-lap affair, Dale scored a runner-up finish behind Michael Page with Casey Roberts, Ricky Weiss, and Austin Smith rounding out the Top-5.

The following night at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia), Dale followed up the third-fastest time in his group with a fourth-place finish in the feature, trailing Donald McIntosh, Casey Roberts, and Tanner English across the line.

Wrapping up the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series on Monday, McDowell stopped at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) for the Scott Sexton Memorial. In a field of 28 cars, Dale logged a fifth-place finish in his heat race, which positioned him 18th on the starting grid for the $10,052-to-win finale. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Dale McDowell improved 12 spots in the 52-lapper to record a sixth-place finish.

With his performances over the weekend, Dale captured the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series point’s championship.

Shane McDowell Racing will not race this weekend as they prepare for next week’s 25th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream. On Thursday and Friday, June 6-7 there will be twin, $10,000-to-win features, while Saturday night’s mega finale posts a $125,000 winner’s check.

Dale McDowell claimed the coveted win in 2014.
