Kyle Strickler Tops Modified Action at Florence Speedway
Wells and Sons Motorsports Set to Head to Mega 100

Hazard, Kentucky (05/29/19) – Kyle Strickler had a busy Memorial Day weekend of action in both his Wells and Sons Motorsports Modified and Super Late Model. Most notably he piloted the G-Style Transport No. 8 Wehrs Machine/ Longhorn Race Car Modified to the feature win on Saturday night at Kentucky’s Florence Speedway.

He added a Top-5 finish in Super Late Model competition with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals on Monday night at 411 Motor Speedway.

“We had a good weekend, and honestly we were a part’s failure away from having a great weekend. We won the Modified feature at Florence and were on our way to a Top-5 finish in the Super Late Model before a mechanical issue with a few laps remaining, knocked us out. Then on Monday night at 411 Motor Speedway our program did really well against, a tough field of competitors,” Strickler said.

“This weekend I’m really amped to be heading back to Tyler County Speedway for the Mega 100. I’m looking forward to taking the Super Late Model there for the first time, but our main focus is on winning the $15,000 check in the Modified. I’ve been so close in the past, but I haven’t won this race yet.”

Kyle Strickler and the Wells and Sons Motorsports team invaded Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky) on Saturday night. The Pennsylvania native pulled double duty in the Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified ranks. In a stout field of 38 Late Models, Strickler secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a 12-lap heat race victory. Starting in the fifth position, Kyle was battling for a Top-5 finish throughout the feature until a mechanical failure knocked him from contention on lap 47. He was credited with a 16th-place finish.

In his Modified, Kyle streaked to an 8-lap heat race win, locking him into the show. Cruising to his first win of the season in the Wells and Sons Motorsports entry, Strickler topped at Josh Rice, Billy Vaughan, Jimmy Lennex Jr., and John Holt Jr. at the line to capture the $700 payday.

After taking Sunday evening off, the team headed to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) on Monday afternoon for the Scott Sexton Memorial. In a field of 28 Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series entries, Strickler started the night with a heat race victory, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the $10,052-to-win A-Main. Dropping one spot in the 52-lap affair, Kyle Strickler registered a fifth-place finish behind Jimmy Owens, Brandon Overton, Ricky Weiss, and Hudson O’Neal.
