Donald McIntosh Wins $5,000 at Rome Speedway
Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway Up Next

Dawsonville, Georgia (05/29/19) – Donald McIntosh achieved one goal over the weekend, but unfortunately fell just short of reaching his other goal. The driver of the Blount Motorsports No. 7 Ole Ben Franklin Motors/ Stowers Cat/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model picked up a $5,000 win on Sunday night with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals at Rome Speedway. He was within striking distance of the championship going into the finale on Monday night, but bad luck bit him.

“On Saturday night at Rome Speedway we were able to win, but we had a little bit of a misfire at the end of the race,” McIntosh commented. “We thought we had it fixed, but we came out for hot laps at 411 and we had the same misfire, so we ended up changing cars and thrashing around trying to get the backup car ready. As a result, we were a little bit behind all night.

“It’s been a fun deal, and it’s hard to be upset. These guys give me a great racecar and to come that close to the title, especially against someone like Dale [McDowell], it’s pretty special.”

Donald McIntosh was one of 28 Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series entries in action at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) on Saturday evening, kicking off the three-day stretch. In a field of 28 cars, McIntosh locked his spot into the opening night feature with the third-fastest time in his qualifying group. Rolling off sixth for the feature, Donald ultimately crossed the finish line in the eighth position.

On Sunday afternoon at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia), Donald registered the second-fastest time in qualifying, which positioned him on the pole for the main event. Wheeling his way to his fourth win of the season, McIntosh topped Casey Roberts, Tanner English, Dale McDowell, and Ricky Weiss at the line to pocket the $4,000 payday.

The following night brought 28 Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series competitors to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) for the series finale. Mechanical issues early in the night forced McIntosh to go to a backup car.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, Donald earned the 17th-starting position for the $10,052-to-win, Scott Sexton Memorial. Improving two spots in the 52-lap affair, McIntosh logged a 15th-place outing.

With his performance over the weekend, Donald finished second in the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series point’s chase behind Dale McDowell.
