R.J. Conley Victorious for First Time in 2019 at Portsmouth Raceway Park!

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) R.J. Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, stood tall in victory lane for the first time in 2019 on Sunday evening, May 26 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! R.J. clicked off the second fastest lap during Super Late Model qualifying and later won his heat race. After starting from the outside of the front row in the weekly feature event, R.J. led from flag-to-flag to claim the $2,000 payday ahead of Brandon Fouts, Jackie Boggs, Shannon Thornsberry, and Josh Bocook. Rod and J.T. Conley were also in action at PRP on Sunday, as Rod was unfortunately involved in an incident that made him clip a utility tire to wind up fifteenth in the final finishing order and J.T. battled from the tail twice in the headliner to salvage a strong ninth place showing.

On Thursday night, May 23, the Memorial Day weekend kicked off for the Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) team at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio. Rod and R.J. were on hand to do battle for the $3,000 top prize in the unsanctioned 'Throwback 30.' R.J. ran second in heat race action and later landed on the podium of the A-Main in the third spot following thirty green flag laps behind only victor Tyler Carpenter and runner-up Steve Casebolt. Rod, on the other hand, placed fourth in his heat race prior to advancing up inside of the top five to finish in the fifth position. Full results from both holiday weekend programs can be accessed online at www.atomicspeedway.net and www.portsraceway.com.

Next up for the CMI teams will be another short trip from their Wheelersburg race shop to Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, June 1 for a weekly Super Late Model program at Portsmouth Raceway Park. The current plan has each of the four Conley’s – Delmas, Rod, R.J., and J.T. - heading to PRP to vie for the $2,000 winner’s check. If a CMI driver were to emerge victorious again on Saturday at Portsmouth, it would mark the third overall win for the team in 2019.
