Conley Motorsports, Inc. Inside of Top Five at PRP; Dirt Late Model Dream Next

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) team made the short trek to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening, June 1 to compete in a weekly Super Late Model event. R.J. Conley stopped the clock fourth fastest overall during time trials and later scored a victory in heat race action. The Wheelersburg, Ohio ace then started the $2,000 to win main event from the outside of the front row and ran second throughout the distance to place a strong runner-up behind only victor Josh Bocook.

Delmas Conley, the patriarch of the racing Conley family, was also in action at PRP and finished fourth in his heat race prior to climbing three spots in the A-Main to cross underneath the checkered flag in the fourth finishing position. Complete results from Portsmouth Raceway Park can be accessed online at www.portsraceway.com.

Two of the CMI drivers will now travel a few hours north to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio this upcoming weekend (June 6-8) for the 25th edition of the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ Rod and R.J. Conley will do battle with 80 or so other entrants to compete for their share of the whopping $469,650 worth of posted prize money for the crown jewel extravaganza. The three-day weekend will start with twin $10,000 to win programs on both Thursday and Friday at the hallowed 1/2-mile facility.

Combined points from Thursday and Friday’s preliminary shows will then set the lineup for the six traditional heat races at the “Big E” on Saturday evening. Rod and R.J. will be looking to transfer into the 100-lap ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ through the heat races or the two consolation events to set themselves up for a chance to gun for the gargantuan $125,000 payday. Each feature starter is guaranteed to leave the Buckeye State oval with no less than $2,500 for his efforts. R.J. has transferred into the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ on three different occasions with his best finish of third coming back in both 2004 and 2006, while Rod will be seeking to make his second straight feature start.
