ADAIRSVILLE, GA - Cole Brown of Cullman, AL won the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Week 12 main event on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL driving the K&K Logging Special. The win was Brown’s series-leading sixth win of the season in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action.

Brown is 12th in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman National standings with 297 points, but has the highest Weekly Point Average among the Top 20 in the points chase at 49.50 out of a possible 50. Brown has six wins and nine top five finishes in ten races over six weeks.

Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL had a big Week 12 in Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman competition with a pair of wins driving the Sparks Energy Rocket. The first win came on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and the second win came at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL on Saturday night.

The Week 12 50-point win moved Mitchell into a tie for the second spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL. Each driver has 374 points. Mitchell has four wins, eight top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races over eight weeks.

Wallace has two wins, seven top five finishes, and eight top ten finishes in 11 races over eight weeks of Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman competition. Wallace’s best Week 12 finish came on Friday night at Moulton Speedway with a second-place effort driving the Toyota of the Shoals Special. Mitchell and Wallace share the fourth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers at 46.75.

Morgen Lambert of Booneville, MS is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point leader with 436 points after six top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 12 races over ten weeks. Lambert finished 11th on Friday night at Moulton Speedway driving the Rae Trucking Special.

Heather Lowe of Warrior, AL is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 359 points after four top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 13 races over eight weeks. Lowe turned in a Week 12 fifth-place finish on Saturday night at ECM Speedway driving the McKleroy Warrior.

Victoria Purcell of Bremen, AL is fifth in the Late Model Sportsman National standings with 349 points after one top five finish and seven top ten finishes in 12 races over eight weeks. Purcell finished fourth on Saturday night at ECM Speedway driving the Anderson Trucking Special.

In other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 12 action, Dakota Berry of Huntingdon, TN drove the 22 Auto Salvage Special to victory on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Brian Jones of Richland, MS took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Phil Moore Buick, GMC GRT.

Ryan King of Anniston, AL drove the David King Automotive Special to his fifth Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. King is tied with Ray of Russellville, AL for the second highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers at 48.14. King and Ray are tied for the eighth spot in the National standings with 337 points.

Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS closed in on the Top 10 of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point standings with his first win the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Equipment Services Special.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National points at the end of the season will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
