Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Models Back in Action at Thunder Valley July 5, Brownstown July 6

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (June 30, 2019)- The Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series returns to action in celebration of our great country’s 243rd birthday with two nights of racing action in the Hoosier State as the tour will make its first-ever appearance at Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, IN on Friday July 5 for $3,000 to win and Saturday July 6 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN for the 5th Annual Born Free 40 paying $5,000 to win.

Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, IN will host the Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series on Friday July 5 for the first-time ever presented by El Maguey Mexican Restaurant and the main event will see the MARS Super Late Model drivers race for $3,000 to win in the 30-lap main event. Joining the Super Late Models (which will be in competition for the first time at Thunder Valley Raceway since 2005) will be the track’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Pure Stocks, and Outlaw Four Cylinders. There will also be a fireworks show during intermission prior to feature competition. The pit area will open at 3:00 p.m. and the general admission area will open at 5:30 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 6:30 p.m., followed by practice at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the Friday July 5 event at Thunder Valley Raceway in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, children ages 6 to 12 will be $12, with children age 5 and under free. A pit pass will be $35.

Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN will conclude the weekend of racing in the Hoosier State on Saturday July 6 with the running of the 5th Annual Born Free 40, paying $5,000 to win for the racers of the Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series. Other divisions in competition at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday July 6 will be the track’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Super Stocks (Brandeis Bonus), and Pure Stocks. Gates will open at 3:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 5:30 p.m., with practice set to begin at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the Saturday July 6 event at Brownstown Speedway in the general admission area will $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under free. A pit pass will be an additional $15 at the pit gate.

The Super Late Model portion of both racing programs will be sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series. The entry fee will be $100, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Super Late Model tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 anywhere on the car and a LM40 right-rear option. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $50 tow money. In addition, at Thunder Valley Raceway on Friday July 5, there will be a $100 bonus to highest finishing driver that utilizes a GM604 crate engine.

The Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series has seen four different winners in four events so far in 2019, with those winners including Brian Shirley (Clarksville), David Seibers (Clarksville), Devin Gilpin (Brownstown), and Kent Robinson (Farmer City). David Seibers of Chapel Hill, TN is the current series points leader heading into the weekend of action in the Hoosier State, as he leads Coldwater, MS native Dean Carpenter by a mere fourteen points, with Jose Parga of New Berlin, IL just sixty-six markers out of the lead.
