ADAIRSVILLE, GA - The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division Week 15 Preview is being posted early this July 4th Holiday Week because events will be contested from Wednesday through Saturday. There are five races on the schedule of events in Alabama and Tennessee.

Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will open Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division Week 15 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action on Wednesday night. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division will take July 4th off, and then return to action with one race on Friday night, and three races on Saturday night.

North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL will host a Week 6 Make-Up Race for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division on Friday night. North Alabama Speedway will return to action on Saturday night for their regularly scheduled Week 15 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series event.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division will make a special appearance on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL. Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN will also present the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division cars on Saturday night for Week 15 action.

Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL is the man on top of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point standings going into Week 15 out of the 27-week Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season. Riddle has 529 points after six wins and 14 top five finishes in 14 events over 11 weeks of racing in the Morgan Machine Special.

Riddle also has the highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) at 48.09 out of a possible 50 among the Top 20 drivers with eight or more weeks of racing. The driver chasing Riddle for the point lead is the defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN.

Gillespie has 510 points after five wins, 11 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 14 races over 11 weeks of competition in the Rounder’s Sports Bar & Grill Special. Gillespie also has the second highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers with eight or more weeks of racing at 46.36. Riddle and Gillespie have three more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

Seth Johnston of Santa Fe, TN is third in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings in the Johnston Racing Special. Johnston has 483 points after ten top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 16 races over 12 weeks of competition. Johnston has two more weeks to earn full points.

David Nichols of Hodges, AL is fourth with 463 points after six top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 11 events over weeks of racing in the Hodges Racing Special. Ron Bailey of Meridianville, AL is fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings with 437 points. Bailey has eight top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 15 events over 11 weeks of racing in the John’s Auto Repair Special. Nichols and Bailey each have three more weeks to earn full points.
