Dennis Erb, Jr. Fifth in Herald & Review 100; Lands in Top Ten with Outlaws

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Following a myriad of rain-outs early last week with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, Dennis Erb, Jr. returned to competition on Independence Day at the mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois. The annual ‘Herald & Review 100’ was once again part of the “Hell Tour” and the July 4th special boasted a $5,000 top prize. Dennis posted the fastest lap in his group during qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After finishing third in the fast dash, Dennis started the 100-lap main event from the inside of the second row. He then raced hard for a top five showing in the extra-distance affair at the 1/5-mile oval and eventually nabbed a strong fifth place performance behind only race winner Gordy Gundaker, Bobby Pierce, Brian Shirley, and Jason Feger!

The Dennis Erb Racing team then trekked to Iowa and Minnesota with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on July 5-6 for a pair of $10,000 to win point battles. On Friday night at Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, Iowa, Dennis Erb, Jr. timed in eighth fastest overall during qualifying, placed third in his heat race, and later moved past two competitors during the 50-lap finale to land in the sixth finishing position behind only victor Brandon Sheppard, Chris Simpson, Chase Junghans, Brent Larson, and Tyler Bruening.

In the annual running of the 'Gopher 50' on Saturday evening at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, Dennis finished seventh in his stacked heat race and second in his B-Main prior to blasting past ten cars in the 50-lapper to leave Deer Creek with a solid tenth place effort. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace currently finds himself sixth in the latest version of the WOOLMS point standings. Full results from these weekend battles can be viewed online at www.thehelltour.com and www.woolms.com.

The action starts later this evening at Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois, as the rain-postponed feature from the June 14 DIRTcar Summer Nationals event will be completed. Dennis will roll off from the pole position in the 50-lap contest - gunning for his third feature win of 2019. Following tonight’s race, Dennis will enter WOOLMS throwdowns on July 9 at ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wisconsin, on July 12 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on July 13 at Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minnesota, and on July 14 at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
