Jimmy Mars Flexes Muscle Against Outlaw Foes with Pair of Top Fives!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars was extremely busy during the Independence Day holiday weekend (July 4-7), as he competed in four events across Wisconsin and Minnesota and racked up a pair of podium performances! Jimmy's hectic weekend was headlined by Saturday's effort in the annual 'Gopher 50' at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota. After timing in seventh quickest in World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series qualifying, Jimmy ran second in his loaded heat race and later started the $10,000 to win headliner from the inside of the third row. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace then drove to the front, battled Shane Clanton for the point early in the distance, and eventually landed on the podium in the third spot behind only race winner Brandon Sheppard and runner-up Ricky Weiss!

On Thursday and Friday, the weekend started with a pair of WISSOTA Challenge Series tilts at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin. Jimmy earned Hard Charger honors for his showing in Thursday's opener, as he blasted past eight competitors during the $2,000 to win contest to place sixth in the final finishing order. In Friday's $3,000 to win 'River City Rumble' finale, Jimmy ran as high as second before settling for a third place outing behind only victor A.J. Diemel and runner-up John Kaanta. The four-race weekend then wrapped up on Sunday evening at Eagle Valley Speedway in Jim Falls, Wisconsin, as a $3,000 top prize was up for grabs with the Dirt Kings Tour. The popular driver known as the "Iceman" unfortunately got into the wall in his heat race and was unable to start the main event, which led to Jimmy being placed twenty-second in the final rundown.

With no rest for the weary, the Mars Racing team continued the frenzied stretch of dirt-slinging racing on Tuesday, July 9 at ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wisconsin. The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series made their debut in the ‘Badgerland 50,’ which paid $10,000 to the winner. Jimmy lowered the track record in qualifying with his fast lap of 14.388 seconds and later finished second in the first heat race. He then rolled off from the outside of the third row in the 50-lapper, which was red-flagged for a lap 18 rain delay, and was able to climb to as high as third in the running order before slipping to fourth late in the distance to finish behind only race winner Brandon Sheppard, Shane Clanton, and Ricky Weiss. Complete results from all five races can be found online at www.mississippithunder.com, www.eaglevalleyspeedway.com, and www.woolms.com.

Three more World of Outlaws showdowns will await the #28 team this weekend, as Jimmy is slated to enter a trio of $10,000 to win programs in the states of North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin from July 12-14. Up first is a visit to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday, while Saturday will find the team at Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minnesota. The tripleheader weekend will then conclude at the nearby Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin on Sunday, as the national touring series will make their first-ever stop to Jimmy’s hometown oval.
