ADAIRSVILLE, GA - There were not many changes in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings after Week 16 competition, as rain washed out six of eight scheduled events. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL remains the leader in the standings with 565 points.

Morgen Lambert of Booneville, MS is second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 532 points, and Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL is third with 515 points. Neither Mitchell, Lambert nor Wallace were in action for Week 16 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition.

There was a pair of Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 16 races that were contested on Saturday night. Jeff Helms of Centre, AL drove the Ackers Towing Warrior to a $1,000 victory in the Buddy Davidson Memorial Race at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL. Colton Leyendecker of Holt, FL was the winner on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the CJL Construction Special.

Victoria Purcell of Bremen, AL earned 41 points with a 13th-place finish on Saturday night at ECM Speedway to move up to the fourth spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 513 points. Brian Murray of Russellville, AL finished eighth on Saturday night at ECM Speedway to earn 43 points and is now fifth in the National standings with 512 points.

Mitchell and Lambert have two weeks left to earn full points before they reach the 14-week mark of their respective seasons. With just three points separating third through fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings, Wallace has three weeks to earn full points, while Purcell and Murray have two more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
