ADAIRSVILLE, GA – It’s time for drivers at the front of the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings that have reached a 14-week point total to try and net as many points as they can, while drivers still earning full points will try and make big gains up the rankings. Week 19 of the 27-week season will see ten races on the schedule this weekend.

There will be three races on Friday night that will be contested at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, and North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. The North Alabama Speedway race will be a special Friday night show that will be a Week 16 Make-Up race.

Saturday night Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division races will be held at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

The Whynot Motorsports Park race will be a tune-up for next week’s 7th Annual Durrence Layne Chevrolet Southern Street Stock Nationals. This race will take place at the House of Hook on August 14 through 17. The Qualifying Races on August 15 will award Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National points, and the main event on August 17 will pay $5,000-to-win.

The top six drivers in the current Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings have reached the 14-week mark of their respective Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series seasons, and are currently trying to net points. Drivers seventh on back in the standings all have at least two or more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

Dylan Hamilton of Cantonment, FL is the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point leader, with a four point advantage over Hayden Moran of Covington, LA. Hamilton has 674 points, and the 14-year-old driver will try to net on a 46. Moran has 670 points, and the 19-year-old driver will try to net on a 41.

Mike Lane of Wing, AL is in the third spot of the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings with 659 points, and he will be trying to net on a 40. Jeremy Eaton of Wiggins, MS is fourth with 656 points, and he will be trying to net on a 39. Doug Taylor of Angie, LA is fifth with 625 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41, while Joseph Nicholson of Fort Walton Beach, FL is sixth with 620 points, and he will be trying to net on a 43.

Jason Baker of Addison, AL is seventh in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings with 586 points, and he has two more weeks to earn full points. Baker also has the second highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 in the point standings at 48.83 out of a possible 50.

It is also the time of the season to begin looking for the driver that comes from out of nowhere and into the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship mix. That driver could be Eddie Rhinehart of Lawrenceburg, TN. Rhinehart is currently 14th in the National standings with 489 points, but he has the highest WPA at 48.90 and four more weeks to earn full points.
