ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Dylan Hamilton of Cantonment, FL and Hayden Moran of Covington, LA will head into Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 20 action tied for the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point lead, with other drivers breathing down their respective tailpipes. Each driver has a best 14-week total of 674 points.

Hamilton will be trying to net on a 46 in his next start, which means the 14-year-old driver must finish fourth or better to increase his best 14-week point total. Moran will be trying to net on a 44, which means the 19-year-old driver must finish sixth or better in his next race to increase his best 14-week point total.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

Mike Lane of Wing, AL is third in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 668 points. Layne will try to net on a 41. Jeremy Eaton of Wiggins, MS is fourth with a best 14-week total of 662 points, and he will try to net on a 40.

A Week 20 50-point win in a field of eight or more cars would give Hamilton a total of 678 points, Moran a total of 680 points, Lane a total of 677 points, and Eaton a total of 672 points. We said all of that to say this:

Here comes Jason Baker of Addison, AL!!! Baker is fifth in the standings with 635 points, and he has one more week to earn full points. Baker needs to finish fifth or better in Week 20 competition to take over the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point lead.

Even with all of those scenarios, there will still be seven weeks to go in the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season after this weekend. A driver to watch in the coming weeks could be Eddie Rhinehart of Lawrenceburg, TN.

Rhinehart has the highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 drivers in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division at 48.91 out of a possible 50. Rhinehart is 12th in the National standings with 538 points and he has three more weeks to earn full points.
