ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Pop your popcorn and get ready for an entertaining final weeks to the 2019 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division Weekly Racing Series season. After Week 20 competition, there is a new point leader, and just seven points separating the Top 5 in the National point standings.

Jason Baker of Addison, AL finished eighth on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL and used the 43 points he earned in his 14th and final week to earn full points to jump from fifth in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings to first in the Carden Construction Special. Baker now has a 14-week total of 678 points.

Mike Lane of Wing, AL moved up one spot to the second position in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 676 points. Lane finished second on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL to net on a 41 and gain eight points on his season total. Dylan Hamilton of Cantonment, FL, who went into Week 20 action tied for the point lead, finished fourth on Saturday night at Southern Raceway.

Hamilton was able to net one point on a 46 and drop to third in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock National standings with a best 14-week total of 675 points. Hayden Moran of Covington, LA, who was tied with Hamilton for the point lead going into Week 20 action, did not compete over the weekend, and is now fourth in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 674 points.

Jeremy Eaton of Wiggins, MS finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to net on a 40 and gain nine points on his season total. Eaton is fifth in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings and right back in the Championship battle with a best 14-week total of 671 points.

Even with a close Top 5 in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings, drivers that are ninth through 20th have one to four more weeks to earn full points before they hit the 14-week mark of their respective seasons. This could set up some September Surprises before the National Championship is decided.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
