Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Racing Series Set for Grand Finale on Friday August 30 at Thunder Valley Raceway

SOMERSET, KY (August 24, 2019)—The Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Racing Series will conclude the 20th Anniversary Season on Friday August 30 at the Steve Leonard-promoted Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, Ind. paying $3,000-to-win and $300-to-start.

Going into the final event of the season, David Seibers of Chapel Hill, Tenn. leads the points standings by just 12 markers over Dean Carpenter of Coldwater, Miss. Winners on the MARS tour this season include: Brian Shirley (Clarksville), David Seibers (Clarksville), Devin Gilpin (Brownstown), Kent Robinson (Farmer City), Shelby Miles (Brownstown), Mike Marlar (Brownstown), Daryn Klein (Tri City) and Bobby Pierce (I-55). There hasn’t been a repeat winner this season.

Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, Ind. will host the Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series on Friday August 30th for the first-time ever and the main event will see the MARS Super Late Model drivers race for $3,000-to-win in the 30-lap main event. Joining the Super Late Models (which will be in competition for the first time at Thunder Valley Raceway since 2005) will be the track’s Outlaw Four Cylinders, Pure Stocks, Crown Vic’s and Mod Lites. The pit area will open at 3:00 p.m. and the general admission area will open at 5:30 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 6:30 p.m., followed by practice at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the Friday August 30 event at Thunder Valley Raceway in the general admission area will be $20.00 for adults, children ages 6 to 12 will be $12.00, with children age 5 and under free. A pit pass will be $35.00.

The Super Late Model portion of both racing programs will be sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil MARS Super Late Model Racing Series. The entry fee will be $100, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Super Late Model tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 anywhere on the car and a LM40 right-rear option. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $50 tow money. In addition, at Thunder Valley Raceway on August 30, there will be a $100 bonus to highest finishing driver that utilizes a GM604 crate engine. Driver must finish the feature to receive the bonus.
