ADAIRSVILLE, GA – There are six Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races on the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 24 schedule, all on Saturday night. There is still a tight battle underway for the $10,000 National Championship with just 22 points separating the Top 5 drivers with six weeks to go in the 2019 season.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 24 races this Saturday night are scheduled for Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point leader with a best 14-week total of 694 points. Lee will be trying to net on a 48, which means he will have to finish first or second in Week 24 competition to gain on his season point total. Lee will enter Week 24 action with an eight-point lead.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is second in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 286 points. Scarbrough will be trying to net on a 47, so a third-place finish or better gains him points. Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is third in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 680 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46.

Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 678 points, and last year’s National Championship Runner-Up will be trying to net on a 45. Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the Top 5 in the National standings with a best 14-week total of 673 points, and he will be trying to net on a 44.

A driver to watch in Week 24 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division action could be Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN. Johns is currently 12th in the National standings, but he still has one more week to earn full points. A good Week 24 finish could put the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring regular into the Top 10 of the Weekly Racing Series standings.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy, with the National Champion pocketing $10,000.
